James "Jake" Preston Sellers and his wife Mary Eliza Tucker. Jake was the son of William Braddock Sellers and Mary Elizabeth Gaskins.

Adolphus "Doll" D. Sellers & his wife Guinnie Moore. Doll was the son
of Jake Sellers and Mary Eliza Tucker.

William B. Sellers was my gg grandfather.  My line (as I know it) is Mattie
Lee Sellers Wise - Adolphus "Doll" Sellers - James "Jake" Preston Sellers -
William B. "Dock" Sellers - Roland Sellers - Phillip Sellers - Hardy
Sellers.

A copy of a typewritten, copied manuscript entitled "Historical Record of
Roland Sellers' Family" was handed down to me.  I do not know the name of
the author.  The information appears to be based mainly on the 1850 census of
Chesterfield Co. SC., but the author does not include the page #, house #,
etc. in the 1850 census. It begins with Roland Sellers & lists his children
by 2 unnamed wives.  It then covers the 10 children of William B. Sellers
and Mary Elizabeth Gaskins. There is also a page listing Mary Gaskins' parents
&
her siblings.  If anyone knows the author of "Historical Record of Roland
Sellers' Family," please let me know.  Whoever it is/was deserves a lot of
credit for all the work in this manuscript!

I have not personally done much research on this line (YET!).  However
between this manuscript & 1900 census records I have put together a report
on the William B. Sellers family.  Maybe it will be of help.

Here is "The Confederate War Service Record of William  B. Sellers."  I
have
copied it from page 5 of "Historical Record of Roland Sellers' Family."

"SELLERS, WILLIAM B.

Married Mary Elizabeth Gaskins - probably about the year of 1846.  Being
described on his service record as a resident of Chesterfield County, S.
C.,
and as having a dark complexion, dark brown hair and grey eyes.

He enlisted in the 16th Battalion, South Carolina Partisan Rangers (a
Cavalry
Regiment), on June 1, 1863 for the period of the war.

He was with his company from June 1, 1863 until February of 1864 when his
service record shows him to be sick in a Charleston Army Hospital.

The muster roll of the company shows he had no horse after June 1, 1864,
and
was with a dismounted battalion.  He had been promoted to the rank of
Corporal.

He was captured on December 10, 1864, at Armstrong Mills, Virgiania, and
sent
as a prisoner of war to Point Lookout, MD.  He was released at Point
Lookout
on June 19, 1865.  He journeyed home on foot in the company of several
others
released at the same time.

The 16th Battalion, South Carolina Partisan Rangers was organized July 21,
1862, and was increased to a regiment about November 1, 1862 by the
addition of other companies.  It was designated the 6th South Carolina Cavalry and
was
also known as Aiken's Partisan Rangers Regiment and as the 1st South
Carolina Partisan Rangers Regiment."

YVONNE, Thanks, kinda sounds like a reunion/family article/booklet. Didn't
see any errors - just omissions, of unknown facts. Did NOT check Other
kids,etc.

Don't have 1900 or 1910 census posted, Maybe someone else has and could
send.
Mary SELLERS AND  William Elisha HUNTLEY should both be living with their
parents.

ROBERT HUNTLEY family lived close to our SELLERS for several years, but,
his family is not continued on to 1900's (he did have a son Elisha, much
younger)

THANK YOU for sharing this family. MANY times we need some of the Younger

I can SCAN some of MARIE GULLEDGE WIGGINS pages, but, having trouble making
smaller text and losing the format when I post to our web/html pages.  Will
continue - Probably, the way I am saving? and trying to resize? The Scan
comes thro good, but very large, so I need to make smaller , so you can read a page at a time. So much to Learn and understand!

MOORE FAMILY

I have 5 pages from the National Archives on the Civil War record of a Robert A. Moore. I thought they were for my gg grandfather, but after receiving them realized they are not.  I wanted to check with you to see if you know anything about this Robert A. Moore.

He served in Co. B, 14th NC Infantry. He enlisted as a private on Dec. 1, 1861 at Fort Bee, VA. He was present at Gettysburg, but he died May 26, 1864 while on picket. Thos. M. Moore, fa (father?) filed a claim of deceased soldier on Feb. 20, 1865.

If you recognize this Robert A. and Thos. M. and know someone who is their descendent, please advise me.  I am open to any suggestions you may have to help me see that these important papers get a good home.

YVONNE, thanks, sending a copy to SELLERS and the MOORE discussion group and hopefully they will forward it on also.

Do you have a male sellers relative that would submit to our dna test? It is possible that your Hardy Sellers may tie into our Chatham County North Carolina Sellers.

2. I understand that Marie Gulledge Wiggins wrote a book about the Sellers line in Chesterfield, SC. What was the title of her book? When was it printed?

Thanks, Yvonne

WE NEED this info to Prove whether Martha Sellers, dau of Philip and Mary was a Martha Moore in 1875!

Did Robert A. Moore's civil war papers say when/who married? Why did someone else claim pension? = don't know where I got this info right now? Memory, will relook. Don't see a pension claim on him and she lived till 1917 And he lived till after 1900.

Hello Marie,

Thank you for copying me when you replied to Jim.

I'm sorry, but I don't know who Martha Elizabeth Sellers parents were. If I ever figure it out, I'll let you know.

I am attaching 2 pictures from the small Moore Cemetery in Wexford. One is the stone for Robert Lee "General" Moore's 3 infants. The other is of Robert A. Moore's CSA stone, which you already have, but this one is more readable. The 3rd picture is a view of Thompson Creek from the bank where the cemetery is located.

JIM, thank you. Will add.

Nice of them to thank you and share family info.

Wonder if she knows who Martha Elizabeth Sellers parents are or where on 1850 census. She appears to be born 1834NC and married in 1860, so maybe info on marriage license? Sending cc to them also and hoping for reply.

Thank you and best wishes, marie, iowa

Hello Jim,

I found the pictures you posted at http://www.sellers-sellars-sollars-zellars.net/scchfdcm.htm

I have seen some of the graves, but some I have not, and I really appreciate your posting them. I wanted to give you a little more information on the small cemetery you found beside Thompson's Creek. We call that cemetery the Moore Cemetery in my family. Robert Moore was my gg grandfather. I'll copy/paste what I know about it here....

"Oct. 4, 2002 - Trip to the old Moore Cemetery
There is a small Moore Cemetery located on the original land belonging to Robert A. Moore This family cemetery has 5 Moore graves. It is located on Wexford Road in the Wexford Community of Chesterfield County, South Carolina. The graves are near the banks of Thompson creek and can be seen from the road. The Anson County line is only about 2 miles away. Robert A. Moore came from Anson County to Chesterfield County & bought property on Thompson Creek. It is said that he built his house across the creek from this family cemetery. Robert A. and his wife Martha Elizabeth Sellers are buried there. Robert has a Civil War marker also. Their daughter Sarah Catherine Moore Shaw, [she married Murdock Shaw] is buried there. Their daughter-in-law Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Moore, first wife of their son Robert "General" Moore, as well as three of General and Lizzie's infant children are also buried there."

Sincerely,
Yvonne W. Scott
