This is what I know about
Young Sellars.
He was born about 1789 in
North Carolina. He is the son of Judith
Sellars of Hall County Georgia. Judith died about 1850 and left a will
naming her children as,
Young, David, James, Hiram, Catherine Green of
South Carolina, Mary Byford,
Happy Hanes, Cynthia Flynn and Nancy
Cockram. Judith was approximately 100 years of age at
her death. She
was born about 1750 in North
Carolina.
Young Sellars is first found
on the 1830 census in Jackson County
Alabama married to Sarah
Unknown and he is a blacksmith.
Young died between 1860-1870
in Jackson County Alabama. We have
documents that tie Young to
his mother Judith.
Carl Sellars and I believe
that Young Sellars was married first to
Margaret Green, abt 1792 in
Caswell County North Carolina.
They are believed to have been married in Pendleton District South Carolina.
Margaret Green is found in
Saint Clair County Alabama in 1820 living
close to the David Sellars
mentioned above (brother of Young).
Margaret Sellars remarried
in 1820 to Arch Walker and died about 1849 in St. Clair County Alabama.
Margaret Sellars on the 1820
census had 4 children that have been
identified as Burwell,
George W., Melinda and an Unknown daughter.
Carl descends from Burwell
and I descend from George W.
Carl and I have had the DNA
test and have determined that we definitly
descend from a common
ancestor which we believe to be Young Sellars of
Alabama.
Many questions still
remain. We are not conclusive that
Judith's
husband was David or that he
was as son of Young.
There also is Ruth Sellars
that married in Hall County Georgia that we was not
mentioned in Judith's will that we cannot tie into.
Also there is some connection
with Judith and Fayette County Georgia and
Sellars found there. These Sellars also tie to Sellars in
Tennessee.
We also have no idea where
Young Sellars was in 1820 census since he was
not listed with
Margaret.
Carl belives that our line
descends from the Robert Sellers that you
mentioned but we have not
been able to put it together at this time. Any
help that you could give
would be greatly appreciated. If you
need any
further information I will
try to find.
Thanks
Tom

Tom, I don't know if you have this
or not. I corresponded with a Patty
Hill Gambill of Durant, OK many years ago about Young Sellars of Jackson
County, AL trying to tie him to my Sellers of Chatham County and Burke County,
NC but never could make the connection.
This is Young's daughter Judith:

enumerated on 04 June 1860
Thomas Hill, 23, M, laborer, 0/$40,

Judith A. Hill, 26, F, AL
Harriet F. Hill, 8/12, F, AL
I am sure there are more children
but I have not pursued this line.

The only
Young Sellers that I know that was
in Chatham was the son of James Y/T
Sellers and was still living in
Chatham County, NC in the 1850 census.
Deed Records show that James Y/T
Sellers had dealings with a David
Sellers but I do not know who he
is. David Sellers is possibly the son
of James Y/T Sellers that died in
Chatham circa 1805. Are you sure that
David had a son named Young?
Here are the known children of James
T/Y Sellers (I have often wondered
if the name is James Young Sellers):
James T/Y Sellers born circa 1735
Scotland or England died 1805 Chatham
County, North Carolina married
Patience Parker, who died 1812 in Maury
County, Tennessee
Known children:

Sarah Bynum; Ruth Sellers born abt
1768 married Isham Bilbrey; Isaac
Sellers, Sr. abt 1769 Orange County,
NC died 1830 Maury County, Tennessee
married Judith Johnson, this is my
Sellers line; John Sellers born abt
1770 NC died 1824 Maury County, TN
married Elizabeth Hart; Laird
Sellers born 13 Dec 1771 Chatham County,
NC died 1862 Moniteau County,
Missouri married Anne Hackney and #2
Elizabeth Goodwin; Patience Sellers
born abt 1774 Chatham County, NC
died abt 1812 Maury County, TN;

died Overton County, TN, married John
Hammock; Young Sellers born abt 1784
Chatham County, NC, died 1850-1860
Chatham County, NC married Elizabeth
Hackney;
The name Young Sellers is a family
name used by both James T/Y Sellers
and his brother Robert Sellers that
lived in Burke County, NC.
I would like to know more about your
Young Sellers to see if we can tie
the families together.
