Marie,
Thank thee!  Though the two entrees are confusing, this is clearly our
long lost Chatrles M. Sollars (1840-aft 1896) son of William and Eliza
Grant
Sollars, born in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL, who was in the Civil War,
married after to Mrs. Mary Beard Wier, a widow with two sons, and had
pretty
much raised a family of four children in IL and IA... was in St. Paul, MN
in
1896 - had his picture taken.  He apparently met an Illinois girl there of
the name Melissa or returned to the State of Illinois and met and married
her and then moved to Spokane.  This helps explain why his two sons are
found in the Northwest, son George in Portland, OR.., and son Truman in
Seaside, OR picture.  Also his two stepsons, Frank and Allen Wier were in
Portland in very early 1900s. His daughter, Minnie, married and was living
in Vancouver, B.C. about this time.  She likely married in Spokane to one
Wilford Radley.
It looks like we can update his records to read he was born Feb. 1841
and
died "after" 1900,  I can't understand how two extreme differences in age
of
him and second wife Melissa, could be recorded in the same census???  I
wonder if he had a business on Main Street in Spokane, Spokane Co., WA, and
resided on North Helena St/Adams Rt (Route?) in Spokane.   Did they move
within the period the census was being taken and a third party provided the
information for the first entry below, and Charles provided the data on the
second entry which I believe to be the correct one?

Again, Thank you very, very much Marie for this find!  Now to see what else
is available in the Spokane area that may provide more data on Charles and
Melissa.  Please keep me posted should you learn anything further of
Charles
and Melissa ________ SOLLARS, and I will do the same for you if interested.

Bob Sollars
