INDEX for GIBSON COUNTY TN ILLUSTRATED  1901
SELLERS Isaac   GCI     14
PAGE 14

In 1819, so far as I can find any accurate record, there were but three. These were Thomas Fite, John Spencer, and James T. Randolph. In that year Luke Biggs settled about four miles west of where Trenton now stands, and John Eubanks settled near the present site of Bell's Chapel.

In 1822 there were six families in the county. These were the families of Thomas Fite, Isaac Sellers, Luke Biggs, and John Eubanks on the west side; Oliver Blakemore and James Blakemore on the east side. David Crockett became a citizen of the region in 1822, settling a little east of where the town of Rutherford now stands.

In 1822 and 1823 settlers entered the county rapidly from Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee, and North Carolina; so that early in 1824, when the county government was inaugurated, the county had a considerable population. As evidence that North
Carolina contributed most to the settlement of Gibson County, by far the larger portion of the population of the county to-day is composed of the descendants of North Carolina ancestors. At the time of the organization of the county there were probably within its limits five hundred persons.

I found a picture of Miss Ester Zellars, Jackson TN & what a beauty she is,in my BARRETT grandparents' belongings. Maybe made in the 1930's or 1940's. They lived in on Rural Route one Medina.

I don't know how she connects to us.

My grandfather's sister Nora Barrett McCollum married a Thomas G.(Garfield) Sellers. Her death certificate states that her husband T. G. Sellers lived in Jackson, TN. Her death is recorded on her certificate as 05 Dec. 1917 though her tombstone reads 1916.

I wondered if this could be his relative & maybe someone wrote a Zellars for a Sellers/Sellars.

Hope someone if failiar with the name & can help me.

Thank you,

I am trying to reconcile some inconsistent information. I have a
copy of a typed sheet of information. Someone has written on it that
it was sent by Mrs. Alice Andrews. The sheet says: "The following
copied from grave stones on the farm of Isaac Sellers, now deceased.
Isaac Sellers Born Dec 19th, 1777 Died June 11th, 1848. Kizzie
Sellers Foster, daughter of Isaac Sellers Died 1902 age 93 years.
Charles Foster born Dec 20th 1810 Died Oct. 20th, 1851. Barbara
Foster born Sept 17th 1841 Died Sept 22nd, 1856. These graves on
home farm of a section in Dyre County, Tenn. There was not any marker
to Isaac Seller's wife's grave."

I was recently sent some information that is inconsistent with the
above. Inconsistencies are: 1. Isaac Sellers is noted as being buried
in Sellers Cemetery, Gibson County, Tennessee. 2. Will of Isaac
Sellers refers to daughter Kisiah Forester (not Foster.) 3. Kiziah
Sellers birthdate noted as 9/14/1809 death 4/12/1903. 4. Kiziah
Sellers buried in Duck Hill Cemetery, Gibson County, Tenn.

Anyone know anything that can reconcile this? Anyone seen the
cemetery on the Sellers farm? I do know that Kizzie was Kiziah's
nickname and is what the family called her.
