Asa M. Sellers of Rogersville, PA is the subject of a sketch in the
series
of
books by Howard L. Leckey entitled "The Tenmile
Country and its Pioneer
Families." See Volume 7, pg. 73-77.
According to the sketch, Asa M. Sellers was born July 8, 1828, the son
of
David and Elizabeth Mitchell Sellars of Greene Co., PA, and the
great
grandson of the original settler to the U.S. (of this family)
named
Christian
Sellars.
He is said to have married Jane Orndorff on March 31, 1855, and been
the
father of six children:
1. Elizabeth S., married
Carey Grimes
2. William L.
3. Atkinson H.
4. David R.
5. Mary A. (deceased)
6. Adda M. (deceased).
Jane Orndorff's date of birth was given as March 23, 1832.
Of course, there is another Asa M. Sellers found in Coshocton Co., OH. A
record of him is found on pg. 339 in Hill's 1881
"History of Coshocton
County, Ohio," where the campaigns of his Civil
War unit are given. He was
of an age to enlist in August 1861,
in Coshocton County's 51st Ohio
Regiment,
and was assigned
to Co. F. Duty included Louisville, Nashville, Tullahoma
and
Pittsburg Landing.
