From: HJZM01A@prodigy.com ( SHERRY MAZZETTI) To: signpro@abraxis.com Monte, As to Sellers, I need to gather up info on the Bracken Co group. Know you said that I could probably help you. Think that I may wind up confusing you instead. I know that I am confused, and I also know that I am not alone. Several people are trying to sort them out for different reasons. Let me start by saying that the Second Census of KY (1800) shows the following Sellers in Bracken: Abraham, George, John, Leonard, and Michael. There is also a John in nearby Mason. I can send you a list of all KY Sellars/Sellers, but for the moment, I'll concentrate on these. Abraham never appears again that I can see, but I have not looked for land record, just census and the like. Not sure who George is. Leonard was definitely from Washington/Greene Co PA, and I have an account of some of his relatives from THE TENMILE COUNTRY (Pa.) & ITS PIONEER FAMILIES by Leckey. He had a younger brother John, maybe the (Bracken) John in this census. For a couple of reasons, I rather thought John was Polly/Mary Sellers' father, but census records appear to make him too young. Other factors apply. PA records do not establish that Leonard's brother John also went to Bracken Co. PA records also indicate that this brother, although head of a family, had mental problems, so.... Leonard had 4-5 daus, and he could be her father, but the absence of any Leonard in the family discourages this interpretation. One daughter (think named Elizabeth) married a Waters. Others unknown. His wife may have been named Flora--not sure--and no Flora in the family either. Most Sellers appear to have lived in/near Germantown which is near Mason Co border. Maybe the other John from Mason County is her father. Have not tried to track him. In addition to the name John appearing in her family (which could originate from the McDaniel side alone) , a researcher found her husband, John McDaniel, buying at an estate sale of a John Sellers in 1833. Only time he bought that the researcher could find. There was also a John Jr., maybe this man's son and your ancestor. Dunno yet. Should mention that my Ulrey family lived just outside the Tenmile area. Michael was an early favorite, since his name appears on one of Mack McDaniel's documents (more about which later), but Michael served in the REV, and his papers show that his daughter Polly was surnamed Shane. A daughter, Sarah, did marry a McDonald, and Mack, at least, was sometimes (I think) listed as McDonald. Michael was born in Germany, lived in Lancaster PA and joined the REV from VA. Suspect that he's related to Leonard, but how I do not know. I do have a question for you. You mention Mary in the 1850 Nicholas Co census. Place is not surprising, as I have found some probably King relatives there. What state is listed for her birth? Probably is PA. Outside chance for VA. (PA is correct-Monte) Sherrymarie sellers hollinger wrote:

Marie, Monte, Hermon
Am trying to put together some very modest-sized
packets for all
of you, as well as some
for other correspondents. Would like to send more, but I'm
afraid
that I'll lose track of what I am
doing. Miscellaneous contents. Just some comments:
1. Monte's papers show a Robert McDaniel
family and a Sellers
family at either Ruddle's
or Martin's Station. Eckert bio of Tecumseh identifies
a John
Sellers as captive. THINK he was
from Martin's Station. If so, what John? Is this the
one who died
1798?
2. A Robert McDaniel family in Bracken.
Monte sent some info
from correspondent, and
I have very old data from a descendant. Think there are major
differences in info. Descendant's
info says family was at Strode's/Stroud's Station. Family
from PA
probably. Same family as at
Ruddle's/Martin's probable. Never found connection in Bracken
Co to
John or Mack McDaniel.
Have some marriage data for the children of Robert and Luann.
Next
packet maybe. Outside
chance of contact through a King (not my direct) who married Mathews.
Pretty tenuous. I need
to exhume info and try to find my old correspondent. Will
take some
time. Copies later. Dunno
about Eneas. No connection to either John or Robert that I
can find
so far.
3. Still think we should pursue the
John/will of 1798. Have
found some WFT info on
Finley which makes possible.
4. As for Isaac Sellers--at the moment,
I would like to
concentrate on the one who died in
1790. He is supposed to be brother of John/will of 1798.
5. Monte's papers show two land grants
for John Sellers. Marie-
-think you said info
posted, and I believe that you do list a mention of one of these
land
grants, but I do not find the
other. Did I miss something? Also, there is no land
description,
plat, or other. Could any of this
be extant? Pursuing.
6. Trying to get will of Elizabeth
Sellers of 1829 (date from
memory) Bracken.
7. Some Finley data of interest,
but I won't get into yet.
Again packets will be skinny, but I hope
to get out this weekend-
-to arrive next week.
Sherry
Marie,
Knew that I was missing a Sellers from
Shelby Co IL area--
Charles Sellers/Sellars. He's from
the family of Morgan Bryant. Morgan is important to me.
Morgan's
sister, Nancy Bryan (no "t")
m. William Bennett. Close relative (cousin?) Permelia Bryan
m.
William S. King. William King is
Carolyn King's link to my King family. Morgan Bryant married
first
Melinda Eaton and had two
sons--William C. Bryant who married E. Louisa Francis [sic] Dodson
and Samuel who married
Elizabeth Powell.
After Melinda/Malinda Eaton died, Morgan
married Urana Madden in
Champaign Co IL.
Have never linked her Madden family to any earlier place or time,
so
I have no idea how they
met.. According to Urana's obituary, Morgan and Urana had
5
children: Melinda, Lydia, James,
Sarah, Mary. Lydia and James must have died young. Melinda
married
Thomas Lewis Sellers,
and they had children also named Liddia A. and James B. who died
young. Sarah married James
R. McDaniel (bro to my John S.). Apparently Mary married a
Sellers
since she is listed as mother
of only two surviving grandchildren in Urana's obit. They
are Mrs.
Mary Moore and Mr. Charles
Sellars. Will send obit.
Eaton family from MD to IN. Bryan/Bryant
from Fayette/Owen Co
KY to Decatur/Marion
Co IN with McDaniel family before IL. Don't know if related
to
Boone/Bryan clan or if Morgan
was just named for Morgan Bryan.
Sherr
Marie,
Forgot to add commentary on your 1810 census.
Yes, I think
after marriage this is Benjamin McDaniel and wife Nancy/Ann? Fee
w/father Mack McDaniel and John McDaniel and wife Mary/Polly Sellers
w/father John. Mack had married Nicy Stout in 1803--obviously
not
mother of children. No idea who John McDaniel Sr.'s wife was.
Note
that Ben had gotten married in 1810 and there was sale/transfer
of
property from Mack to Ben to John Jr. Very curious.
Sherry

UNLESS, the land grants show more land for Robert Sellers, and I know
there was MORE than one GRANT, but, don't remember if same SEC of 1/4-
The land on ROBERT AND NANCY SELLERS sale/deed would equal what his
brother JOHN SELLERS deeded him in 1837/41 and his other 10
brothers/sisters/heirs = 1/11th part
I WOULD feel a lot better having ALL original papers, instead of
extracts-but, JOHN SELLERS died 1837/41 did will/deed this land to

Hermon, Monte, Marie,
Still pursuing Sellers/McDaniel data.
Hoping for some
additional info on the Elizabeth Sellers
will of 1829, the Benjamin McDaniel sale of 1832, and any John
McDaniel will 1830-50, if it
exists in Bracken Co. Hope to have within 1-2 weeks.
Some brief
info:
Earl Ross on Prodigy says no Fee in either
Clark Co KY or OH in
1830. No Benjamin
McDaniel in either. In 1830, Clark Co KY, there was an Alexander
McDaniel (Winchester Twp.)
and a George McDaniel. Know some Clark Co KY McDaniel names
are from
Delaware
McDonald/McDaniel lines, according to some BB Archives files I copied
before Prodigy
eliminated them. I have a supposed VERY distant relationship
to them
through Wakefield
surname.
Monte--this may be where the Reno, NV researcher
can help. He
has the DE line of
McDonald/McDaniel. Waiting for Bracken sale papers to pursue.
Also,
I am intrigued by
Robinson Sellers (love a mystery). Any possibility that
Robinson=Robertson?
Also, we know that John McDaniel and Mary
Sellers had two
children--James and
Elizabeth. Census records seem to indicate more daughters,
at least.
I have records of marriage
bonds in the 1830's for females signed by a John McDaniel, but the
time gap (my James m. 1822)
seems extraordinary. Remind me to list them--don't think I
have done
so yet. Do you have any
other Bracken records of McDaniel marriage records in the 1820's?
Hermon--note
that abstract of Valentine McDaniel's REV WAR
record indicates that he
served one month in Springer's Co. He was serving from Westmoreland
Co PA at the time.
Although this is probably not the same Springer that the John
McDaniel served under (Jacob
Springer rather than Uriah?), it's an interesting coincidence that
Springer appears in both records.
Also, although I can prove only John King in Bedford Co PA, there
were Springers in same Co.
Maybe not related, and you probably know
this already, but the
VA records show Michael
Sellers commanded by Major A. Kirkpatrick. Says see papers
1785.
Michael's voucher 1784. If
this could be your wife's Kirkpatrick, see Land Office Patents and
Grants. Andrew Kirkpatrick
had 600A on the little Wolf Glade adj. Land of Enoch Moore and George
Lemon.--Monongalia
Co.
Marie--still
pursuing Robert Sellers' line in Shelby Co IL.
Would you liike a description of
Alton Penitentiary for the website? I have a Rodman (experienced)
researcher name, and will
write him. He has Wakefield in-law, maybe Wakefield ancestry--not
sure. Have seen his name
many times--just not corresponded. Will do now. Wakefields
in NC
like Robert Sellers family.
They were also in PA, although the WAKEFIELD MEMORIAL has mistakes
in
the lines of
descent. I believe that Sellers of NC are related to Sellers
of PA,
although I could be wrong.
Hard to believe that I have two unrelated Sellers. Many family
lines
converge in Shelby Co IL.
Unfortunately, I learned today that Mike Wakefield, who was very
effective in correcting the past
errors, passed away this month. I will miss him.

From: HJZM01A@prodigy.com ( SHERRY MAZZETTI) To: hermfagley@juno.com, mari@netins.net, signpro@abraxis.com Marie, Monte, Hermon, Used the VA index of Patents and Grants to look up the John Sellers grants. Extended to James Power(s) and another Powers who apparently belongs to James Power. Looked for names on John Sellers will of 1798--James Thompson, John Adams, William Adams. Did not look for James Brown. Copied Fayette/Bourbon but also some from Lincoln, since I definitely found a James Thompson w/both John and William Adams as neighbors. Found all the Eneas McDaniel I could (under several spellings). Also copied a few other McDaniel. Have lots more, but here are the most important. JOHN SELLERS 23 MAY 1786 FAYETTE CO KY--400A. On the north side of the south fork of Licking Grants Z, p. 545 JOHN SELLERS AND JAMES POWER 22 MAR 1786 FAYETTE CO KY--1000A. On the north branch of the south fork of Licking waters of Hinksonts [sic] fork adjacent David Marshall Grants S, p. 64 JAMES POWER 10 JULY 1785 FAYETTE CO KY--1000A. On the north branch of the south fork of Licking waters of Hinksons fork adjacent William Nesbitts Preemption and William Steels Settlement Grants S, p. 224 JAMES POWERS 21 NOV 1785 FAYETTE CO KY--1000A. On the waters of north fork of Elkhorn on a large Buffaloe Road leading from the Big Crossing to Drinnins Lick Grants S, p. 533 JAMES POWERS 2 DEC 1785 FAYETTE CO KY--560A. On the south side Hingstons fork of Licking adjacent Samuel Nessbitts Preemption. JAMES POWER 2 DEC 1785 JEFFERSON CO KY--1112A. Not copied. JAMES POWERS JEFFERSON CO KY--(another one). Not copied. JEREMIAH POWER 12 MAY 1786 FAYETTE CO KY--314A. On waters of Hinkstons fork of Licking adjacent Thompsons Improvement Grant info not copied JAMES THOMPSON 2 GRANTS JEFFERSON CO KY--Not copied WILLIAM ADAMS AND RICHARD ADAMS 27 FEB 1786 FAYETTE CO KY--20,000A (Don't recall if any land description. Nothing more copied) JOHN ADAMS 15 MAR 1790 BOURBON CO KY--2003A. Beginning where Francis Woolfolks line of his 1000A survey crosses Salt Spring Fork. Note: Probably not the same people as in Fayette/Bourbon, but a James Thompson also had several grants in Lincoln Co. KY. One of 1788 says west side of Salt River adjacent William Adams settlement George McAfee. William Adams grant says basically same thing. Another of Thompson's grants refers to Silver Creek. John Adams had a grant in Lincoln on Silver Creek. Yet another of Thompson's Lincoln Co grants of 1783 refers to Dicks River. I found the following interesting, since I think Mack McDaniel/McDonald may have been in Lincoln Co in 1783. JAMES MCDANIEL 1 JUNE 1782 LINCOLN CO KY--1400A. On Gilberts Creek JAMES MCDANIEL 17 DEC 1783 LINCOLN CO KY--400A. On Dicks River and on both sides of Gilberts Creek JAMES MCDANIEL 17 DEC 1783 LINCOLN CO KY--1000A. Adjacent his settlement of 400 acres on the north and east Other McDaniel/McDonald of interest: (Because of mention of Vaughan and early date) JOHN MCDANIEL 16 AUG 1756 LUNENBURG CO VA--264A. On branches of Timber Tree Branch adjacent Vaughan, Russell, &c. (Because of mention of King) DANIEL MCDONALD 1 JUNE 1782 KENTUCKY CO--1000A. On Ohio River adjacent William King Grants G, p. 17 (Copied following because same name/date as above) DANIEL MCDONALD AND DANIEL MONROE 1 JUNE 1782 AUGUSTA CO--70A. On Stuarts Creek above and near the land of Van Swearingen Grants F 1781-2, p. 517 BRYAN MCDONALD 1 APR 1785 FAYETTE CO KY--400A. On west fork of Howard's Creek There is more of interest, but this should do for now. Sherry
