I have just started putting all of this together, and have not had time
to fully research the Sellers side of the family yet, but here is what I
have on the Sellers.

Ava Western Sellers was my paternal grandmother. She was born 13 April
1895 in Whitley City, KY. She married Jerry Alonzo "Lon" Souleyrette and
had 2 sons. Their names are Dumont Alden Souleyrette and Charles Zachary
Souleyret. They have both married and have decendents, but for now, I will
skip them. She died 18 June 1937 in Boyle Co,Ky and is buried in
Piney
Grove cemetery. We have birth and death records, as well as the obit, and
are sure of these dates. We DO NOT have the marriage record. (Info posted
on Charles' page indicates Indian Head, KY. It no longer exists, but was
in the Whitley Co, KY area.)

Other info on Ava Sellers:

** She graduated from Eastern State Teacher's College and taught
school (at least one year) at South Fork River (seperates Pulaski Co. from
Wayne Co.). (I have requested information from Eastern but have not yet
received it.)

** She moved to Chicago (date unconfirmed) and worked as personal
secretary to Mr. Montgomery of Montgomery Ward. She was working for Mr.
Montgomery just before she and Lon married. We suspect they may have been
married in Chicago, but this, as well as the date is unconfirmed. Dumont
(first son) was born in October, 1925 in Danville, KY, where they moved
after marriage.

** "Lon" Souleyrette worked for Southern Railroad.

** The family home in Danville burned when the two sons were small,
so all records were lost. (This obviously makes our research more
difficult!)

** She died in 1937 of tuberculosis. Her oldest son was 11 years
old.

Ava Western Sellers was born to Thomas Jefferson Sellers (born 5
September 1861 in Whitley Co., died 28 March 1899 in Whitley Co., KY,
buried
in Carter Cemetery, McCreary Co., KY) and Mary Margaret "Maggie" Strunk
(born 07 May 1859 in Pulaski Co., KY, died 30 Jun 1929 in Whitley Co., KY).
She also had 3 siblings, Clara Toni "Toni"Sellers, born 30 June 1892 in
Whitley Co., KY; Thomas Jefferson Sellers (Jr.) "Tom", born 07 Dec 1893 in
Whitley Co., KY; William McKinley "Major or Maje" Sellers, born 11 Nov,
1896
in Whitley Co., KY.

Ava's father, Thomas Jefferson Sellers was the son of Bailey Sellers
(born 07 April 1821, died 12 Nov 1883, buried in Carter Cemetery, McCreary
Co., KY) and Lucy Carrigan (born 07 Jan 1836, died 31 Oct 1924, buried in
Carter Cemetery, McCreary Co., KY). Mary Margaret Strunk was the daughter
of Alexander Elias Strunk (born 1820 in Pulaski Co, KY) and Rachel Roberts
(born 1827 in Pulaski Co., KY).

**My information (passed down through the family, still not
documented) is that 2 of Ava's siblings, Clara Toni Sellers, Thomas
Jefferson Sellers, Jr., and also possibly Mary Margaret Strunk (Ava's
mother) also attended Eastern State Teacher's College. (I have also
requested information on these individuals from Eastern University.)
Thomas Jefferson, Jr. withdrew before completing his education.

Clara Toni Sellers married Orin Wood. They had 3 children (Leland
Edward Wood, Charles Wood and Nancy Millicent Wood, I think). She died in
August 1973 in Michigan. I have documented the death in the SSSI Death
Index. We also have the obituary.

Thomas Jefferson Sellers, Jr. married Mabel Trainham. They had two
children, Glen Wood Sellars and Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Sellers. He
died 26 April 1952 in Pulaski Co., KY. (Also documented in the SSSI Death
Index.)

William McKinley Sellers never married. He died July 23 1965 in
Pulaski Co., KY. (Documented in the SSSI Death Index.) Family information
indicated that he killed a man in his youth because he thought he was
trying to hurt one of his sisters (Ava, I believe), I have not had time to document this completely yet. He did not spend time in prison.

I'm sure that the Sellers listed in the 1900 Pulaski Co, KY census is
this family. By this time, Thomas Jefferson Sellers was already dead.

In the 1910 Pulaski Co., KY census, again, this family:

        CARRIE T. 17 KY (Clara Toni Sellers)
        THOMAS J. 16 KY
        AVA W. 15 KY
        WM M. 13 KY

Now, back to the top: MARY MARGARET STRUNK: Father: ALEXANDER ELIAS
STRUNK was the son of WILLIAM STRUNK and CHARLOTTA ? (or Charlotte). He
married Julia Ann Hutchison 26 Sep 1844 in Wayne Co., TN. (I'm not sure
what ended the marriage.)
He married RACHEL ROBERTS on 8 May 1849 in Pulaski Co., KY. They had 9
children: Albert Marion Strunk, Joel Shelby Strunk, Granville E. Strunk,
Mary Margaret "Maggie" Strunk, James Jefferson Strunk, Henry B. Strunk,
Abraham Lincoln Strunk, Martha Strunk, and Charles Zachary Strunk (who
Charles Zachary Souleyret was named for). Mother: RACHEL ROBERTS, was the
daughter of ELISHA ROBERTS and MARGARET MOUNCE.

THOMAS JEFFERSON SELLERS: Father: BAILEY SELLERS was the son of JOHN
R. SELLERS and SARAH "SALLY" ROBERTS. (I won't go into more details, as
this is all documented in the John R. Sellers book written by Harold
Sellers. Mother: LUCY CARRIGAN.

Now, for Ava Sellers children: DUMONT ALDEN "DEWEY" SOULEYRETTE
married
STELLA FLOWERS May 30, 1955. They have two children, SHERRI LYNN
SOULEYRETTE and DALE ALDEN SOULEYRETTE. Sherri has 3 sons, PHILLIP DUMONT
MILLER, JASON ANDREW MILLER and BRENT JAMES HALL. Dale married LAURIE
SEALE
and has 3 children, CLARE ELIZABETH SOULEYRETTE, KYLE ALDEN SOULEYRETTE,
and
KATE REBEKAH SOULEYRETTE.

CHARLES ZACHARY "CHUCK" SOULEYRET married MARIE "MICKEY"
MACTAGGERT. They have 2 daughters, AVA MARIE SOULEYRET and ROBIN CAROL
SOULEYRET. AVA married TOM CABELUS. They have no children. ROBIN married
CRAIG FRANZEN. They have 2 children, MICHAEL WILLIAM FRANZEN and LISA
MARIE
FRANZEN.

Hope this fills in some blanks for some, and hopefully some of my
blanks
can be filled in. I'm working on getting all of this info entered into a
computer database, and will be glad to post if it would be of interest to
others. Also, if you would like to share info, I'll be glad to add it in also.

I am researching the family of Mary Margaret "Maggie" Strunk and her
ancesters. Her daughter Ava Western Sellers was my paternal grandmother.
I have been collecting data, and in sifting through it all, I find Abraham
Strunk (Daniel Strunk's father) that died in Jefferson Co., KY in 1795,
whose will was probated in Hardin Co., KY. Does anyone know the connection
to Hardin Co, and are there other connections with Hardin Co.?

I actually live in Hardin Co, and I have located the will and intend to
get a copy, but is there anyone/anything else I should be looking for in
Hardin Co? If anyone else would like a copy, let me know, and I'll be glad
to share.

I'm not sure about this Lizzie F. Sellars. It might be Clara Toni, but
I know there was a Sellers that we always referred to as "Aunt Liz", but
can't find my notes on her at the moment, and can't remember which
generation she would have been. Will try to find them and check, and let
you know.

I also have quite a few pictures of the Sellers ancestors (most are the John Riley Sellers line), some identified, and some not. I would be glad to scan and post, if you think others would be interested in copies or could help in identifying them.

I'm trying to straighten out some of my Sellers info, and am sure I have
this tidbit tucked away somewhere, but can't find it right now, so I'm
hoping someone can help me out. Who were the parents of Noah Henry Sellers,
born Dec. 6, 1868, and died Mar 22, 1941 in Perry County, KY? He married
Mary Margaret Strunk (the daughter of William Perry Strunk and Martha
Elizabeth Canada) in 1892. Noah's death certificate lists Mrs. Noah Sellers
as the informant, and father John Sellers, mother unknown. Which John
Sellers is this?

I have ordered the microfilm of the Pulaski County (KY) marriages from
1907-1910 through our local Family History Center, as there are (I hope)
several of the marriages of my family lines on it. If anyone has any
marriages for that area for those years that you need to verify and/or find,
just let me know the names and I'll add them to my list. The microfilm
"should" arrive in about 7-10 days, so if you could get the names to me in
the next few days so I can compile a list, I would appreciate it.

Gail Souleyrette is Dad's half-sister - not a Sellers.

Nancy Wood is the daughter of Orrin Wood & Clara Toni Sellers (daughter of
Thomas Jefferson Sellers & Maggie Strunk). This is Patrick Wood's family.
This photo was taken in Danville, Boyle County, KY. (Nancy would have been
visiting from Michigan.)

This first one is Gail Souleyrette (Dad's half-sister) and Nancy Wood, taken
in 1953.

This is Logan Keith & Elizabeth Sellers Keith. We knew them as "Uncle Log"
and "Aunt Liz". She also went by "Lizzie".

Elizabeth Sellers Keith was the daughter of Bailey Sellers & Lucy Ann
Carrigan. Logan & Lizzie Keith had no children. This was probably taken in
the Pulaski/McCreary Co., KY area.

Not the best picture in the world, but the only one I've found so far of
Mabel Trainham Sellers, wife of Thomas Jefferson Sellers, Jr.
(son of Thomas Jefferson Sellers and Maggie Strunk)
and mother of Glenn Wood Sellers and Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Sellers.

or the other man are. Thomas Jefferson Sellers, Jr. is the son of Thomas
Jefferson Sellers and Mary Margaret "Maggie" Strunk, brother of Clara Toni,
William McKinley and Ava Western Sellers. He married Mable Trainham.
