Thank you for the input. The only name I have to go on is
John Sellars. I know his wife died shortly after birth of
Howard and he was adopted by Geo. And Susan Bishop.
Have no idea if Iowa connection is right. Possible Idaho
connections? Howard B.Sellars Bishop married Ella Wheeler
Delair in Hammond,N.Y. Howard was sent to prison for
killing a Merritt Manning in 1928. Howard would be my
grandfather. Thanks for your time and help.

Thank again. Ruth Dusharm.

Marie- Howard George Bishop was the name he used. He was adopted by George
and Susan Bishop. Have very little info on when.. He was born in Gouverneur,N.Y
May 29,1889.In newspaper clippings it gives his father as John Cellars.
Quote:(Howard Bishop's original name was Cellars.-Sellars.) He was born at Gouverneur.N.Y. a son of Mr. &Mrs John Cellars and the family
lived for many  years on Hailesboro Street in that village. After the death of Mrs. Cellars,
Howard was adopted by George and Susan Bishop . He took the Bishop name.
He attended Gouverneur Schools. He lived at Gouverneur, N.Y. for 20 years.
For a time he was employed on farms in the Rossie and Hammond sections,
where he later made his permanent residence.
He married Ella Wheeler Delair in Hammond N.Y. June 10,1910 - paper says
June 25,1910. Born Oct,6,1890, daughter of Joseph and Jennie Brown Delair.
On April 12,1928, or there about, he shot a Merritt Manning in Hammond,N.Y.
On June 20,1928 he was sent to prison for murder in the second degree at
Canton,N.Y. courthouse. From there he was sent to Dannemora,N.Y. to serve his time. With allowances for good behavior, he should of been out in  14 years.

I don't have much more to go on.... Hope this helps !

Forgot to mention the County was St.Lawrence......
Courthouse was in Canton,N.Y.
Prison in Dannemora, N.Y. is in Clinton County.
Howard G. Bishop died in E.J.Noble Hospital , Alexandria Bay, New York
November 18,1955.

Thanks for the help.   Ruth  cdusharm@hotmail.com

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The family I
am searching for I believe to be in Michigan..John P.
Sellars married for a second time to Caroline Lewis,
(Carrie),in Luther , Lake County Michigan.Carrie born
1873,Williamston, Michigan. They were married March
22,1890, in Michigan, They had 2 children from
what I can find out. Alfred Andrew Sellars, and Ruth W.
Sellars.Alfred was bprn in Syracuse, NY, and Ruth born
Newkirk, Lake Co. Michigan.
My grandfather would have been from his first marriage.
Would like to know her name, where she was from, and
what happened to her, as Grandpa Howard Sellars Bishop
was adopted, and know very little before this or after for that
fact. Any connection would be greatly appreciated. Have much to share concerning Howard.. Waiting to hear form you.
Thanks, Ruth Dusharm
