Hello All, My name is Rick H. Veal, I live in Laurens, S.C. and have just signed on the list. I am not a geneologist, but I am a historian and interested in my family history. I am researching my mother's side of the family, but, no one left alive has a lot of memory about the family :-(! The names I am researching are BAILEY and SELLERS from (I think) Bessermer City, N.C. I know that my great grandfather Ezekiel M. BAILEY 1857-1920 married Amanda RICE 1863-1944 from Yancey County, N.C. Both are buried in Cavalry Church Cemetary in Clinton, S.C. The other great grandparents are Joseph 'Joe' SELLERS and Barbara Ann RHODES SELLERS, both are buried in Bessermer City. If anyone has any information on these names or can point me in the right direction, I need all the help I can get! Marie, Thanks for your note. I am sending you some names of the children (all I know) of Joseph 'Joe' Sellers and Barbara Ann Rhodes Sellers: My Grandmother -- Mary Ann Sellers born 10/12/1890 died 1/16/1962 buried Whitmire, S.C. She married: John Evrin BAILEY probably form the same area. Willard Sellers -- brother of Mary Ann -- sorry, but I don't have a lot of info on him -- yet Of course their parents were the ones listed above. Here's all that I have: (My Mother): Hazel BAILEY VEAL (b.12/13/1927, Bessermer City, NC) daughter of Mary Ann SELLERS (b. 10/12/1890 Buncomb County, NC, D. 1/16/1962 Laurens County, SC) and John Ervin BAILEY (b.9/18/1884 d.12/2/1944) both are buried in Odell Cemetery, Whitmire, S.C.) daughter of Joseph Clyde SELLERS (b. 3/10/1847, no other info) and Barbara Ann RHODES (b. 7/15/1856 McDowell County, NC, d. 8/13/1949 Laurens County, SC) Both are buried in Bessemer City (Gaston County???) NC. son of (I'm not sure about this connection but I think ;-) it is the right one) Joel "Joseph" C. SELLERS (b. 9/11/1826, d. 8/7/1914) and Mary A. TEDDER b. 1836-37(?). Served in Co. G 51st NC, CSA, pension application shows his address (1901) as Vineland Post Office, Columbus County. son of Elisha SELLERS (b.1784-85(?) d. Ukn) married to Rebecca WARD (b. 1794-95(?) d. RICK, Thank You - Elisha SELLERS 1785 son Joel C. born ca 1830 is still living at home , unmarried in 1850 Columbus Co,NC Joel SELLERS 1787, wife Rebecca have a son James C. 6 on the same census. DOES ANYONE HAVE THE 1860 COLUMBUS CO, NC census extracted? 1870 Columbus Co,NC= Joseph C. SELLERS 45 NC There may be a Joel or ? SELLERS in another county in 1850 with son this age-ca 5 yrs old. Maybe some of our members that have worked on these counties, have this info and will send us all a copy. Rick, Do you have any marriage places or where any kids born?
