I do not have much on the Sellers Line, a Joseph Sellers married Margaret
Elizabeth Brock, and I am interested in their decendents. So I am not
doing
Sellers research as such just where Sellers join Brock. However I might be
able to help you all some. The NC/SC line was moved three times before the
line that now shows on the maps. At one time it was just about 1/4 mile
north
of present day Cheraw S C. Now it is about 10 miles north of present day
Cheraw. I do not know when the town of Chesterfield was established, but
the
Cheraws District was divided into Chesterfield Cty, Marlboro Cty and
Darlington Cty. Hardy would have probable had to gone to Darlington, (the
town of) to file his claim or to Wadesboro in Anson Cty N C. Wadesboro in
N C
was much closer since he lived a few miles from the state line.

A good place to look for information is The Carolinas Genealogy Room in the
old courthouse Monroe, NC, The Darlington Historical Commission in
Darlington
S C, and the Darlington Genealogy Society in Hartsville, SC. Hartsville in
is
Darlington Cty.

This may clear up why he went to NC to file his claim. Hope this helps
some.

All of these folk were in Chesterfield Cty S C.
Joseph Sellers and Elie Whittington were supposed to have come from
Lancaster
Cty S C to Chesterfield Cty where all but a very few of their decendents
live
to this day. For more information on JOseph Sellers you may want check
Lancaster Cty SC records. I do not know if there is a link between Joseph
Sellers and the Sellars info that I sent, but I suspect there is why else
would Joseph Sellers have come to Chesterfield Cty unless he had kin here.
C'field and Lancaster are adjoining counties. And I suspect that after
Joseph
mixed race marriage(Edarkis Jane Mungo was either Cherokee or Catawba
Indian)
he left his home and came to C'field where he most likely had other family.
This is just a guess about why he came but according to family story he did
come from Lancaster S C .

married Benjamin Franklin Brock.

This may be some of my family. A Catherine Brock married a Leonard Davis and
moved to Fla. She has a brother I can not account for. He may have follow her
to Fla. The name Dempsey is a Chesterfield Cty S C name the appears quite
often among the Rivers family. The are a number of men named Perry in the
Brock family, I wonder if the name came form Perry Green. Did one of his dau.
marry into the Brock family? Can you tell me anything about where Dempsey
Brock came from?
Chesterfield Cty S C or Anson Cty N C? This could be just the lead I am
looking for, or not.

How did we prove McCarroll SELLERS ages as 1807?
As we don't show 1850 census on him?

1840 Chesterfield Co, SC his age is born 1810/20

1830 Chesterfield Co, SC he is probably living with parents =
Mathew SELLERS= 2 sons born 1800/1810
2 sons born 1815/1820
Mary SELLERS = son born 1800/1810

William SELLERS = son 1810/1815
son 1815/1820
IF you have PROOF to his age, you can narrow down your search=
And try and prove kids to the other families by elimination =

1840 looks like WILLIAM SELLERS kids are still there?

1840 ALL these SELLERS in Chesterfield Co, SC are living Very close - same
page or
two
NO township given - Can you trace the land they lived on for connection?
WE should No deeds sent - believe they are available and you would know
who/and
how land was transferred=

SOME of these SELLERS families have been Proven by land/wills/etc and
McCarroll
SELLERS and a few others are NOT included in those entries.

As far as I know there is no 1850 census for C'field posted. I am trying
to
help a Sellers researcher get info on her ggrandfather, McCarroll Sellars.
All info came from her. Since she sent her request by s-mail, I assume she
in not on line. I will contact her and ask about proof of age.

s second wife, they had no children. I have no ancestory for him. However
Joseph and his first wife Edarkis Jane Mungo had three sons and a daughter.
The 3 sons married the 3 daughers of Joseph second wife. The my
grandfathers
brother married Margaret Jane Sellers, dau of Joseph. Well after the
marriage of the sons and daughters, the respective spouses died and then
Joseph Sellers and Elizabeth Brock Whittington married.

There was also as Louise Ellen Sellars who married Benjamin Franklin Brock.
BFB was a cousin of my ggrandfather. So you see, I am not activitely
researching the Sellars/Sellers line. But I have three cousins, who are.
I
try to help when I can, who knows when they might come up with something
that
will help me.

Now a lady who is in the Chesterfield District Genealogy Society with me is
also researching the Seller?Sellars family. I am just trying to help her.

Hope this explaines my lack of knowledge about the census info.
