Benjamin F. Byrd (Bird) was my great great grandfather. We are trying to research this branch of our family.
His daughter Margaret E. Bird was my great grandmother. She married James Robert Morris who was born in New York and came South.
Her daughter Margaret E. Morris was my grandmother who married James E. Parker in Shorterville, Alabama.
Benjamin, s daughter Edna W. married a Sellers. I believe him to be Rilah Sellers.
Her son Benjamin R Sellers was born in 1866 and in 1870 he was living with James and Margaret Morris. She was his guardian and also the Administrator of Benjamin,s Estate.
It seems that Benjamin died interstate so the court appointed Margaret Morris to be the Administor over the distribution of monies to the Orphan children of Edna, Mollie who married a Roland, she resigned and W. C. Oates was appointed as Administrator.
Land was sold to Michael Holmes, half to be paid in 1876 and half in 1878. This Michael Holmes married Martha Roberts, Child of Burch Roberts who was my great great grandfather.
Michael and Martha also were guardians to Sallie Sellers, appointed by the court.
So the money gotten from the sale of Benjamin,s property was divided among the orphan children.
Rilah Sellers served in the 1st Battalon Alabama Artillery, Co F. joined as Private, mustered out as Private. Film no M374 roll 40. Have not find the site to get this info.
So in 1866 both Edna and Rilah were alive. Edna had to die between then and 1870. Don't know what happened to Rilah. He wasn't killed in the war.

Have found nothing on Mary G. E. Sellers and nothing more on Sallie Sellers.

In 1900 Ala census found the following:
Ben R Sellers born June 1866 33 yrs old Father born in SC, Mother born in Ala
Massie born May 1869 31 years olf keeping house
Annie W born July 1879 age 10
Bucky? born May 1892 9 years old
Carrie D born Sept 1895
John R born Feb 1897 3 years old
Mary M boen Oct 1899

Going to check out the 1910 Census later.
My mother and her brothers and sister always related to us that her grandmother Margaret Byrd descended from Richard E. Byrd. She said all their family records were burned when their house was destroyed by fire.
My Mother could quote back to Holland on the Morris side, which we have proven each and every statement. She also could give us the info on the Byrd,s and Parker,s. Like uninterested nuts we children let it pass over us.
She could also give names and dates on my father,s side. These we have also proven each and every detail.
So now we are on the Byrd,s and still searching the Parkers.
Hope that this helps you with your research.
If I find more in these papers we got from the Alabama Archives will send on to you.
That is if you are interested.
If you have anything that could help me would greatly appreciate it.
Pat

Seeking information on Edna W. Sellers, deceased by 1876 in Henry County.
She had three known children: Mary G. E. Sellers, Sallie Sellers, Benjamin

These three children were the orphaned minors of Edna were listed as heirs
of Benjamin F. Byrd. They were awarded $222.262/3 each from the sale of
Benjamin,s property.
W. C. Oates was appointed as administrator of these minor heirs.
In 1870, Benjamin R Sellers is listed living with James and Margaret E.
Morris. Margaret was first appointed as Administrator but resigned and W. C.
Oates took over.
Seeking information on Edna W. Sellers, Mary G, E, Sallie and Benjamin R.

PAT, thanks.
I don't see much on this family, hoping one of our members will.

I did NOT see a pension claim on Riley Sellers Civil War record, which could
have given additional family info.

PAT, thank you for sharing your family and document.

Would like copy or extraction of this complete document, etc. = DATE, PLACE and copy of the BYRD 1850 census.

Maybe some of our SELLERS members have worked on your family or children of BENJAMIN R. SELLERS 1866 and will send info.

I show Riley connected to Chesterfield Co., SC, but, not much proof. They had land, so should have some record in there! Do you have any of their land records? we need to prove his father and granddad.

Send what you have and need. We have a very helpful group.

Thank you for sharing SELLERS.

Thank you so much. This is the family I am looking for.
I have a copy of Benjamin F. Byrd,s will and I am still trying to decipier all it states but some is very dim and takes time. The following is what I have gotten so far:
Margaret E. Byrd Morris was the admintrator. She resigned and W. C. Oates was appointed to be the executor.
Provisions were left for the minor children to receive a share.
"It is further ordered and decreed that Benjamin R. Sellers a minor child of Edna W. Sellers deceased receive of said William Oates as said administrator the sum of two hundred and twenty two 262/100 dollars for his distrituted share in said intestate estate and Margaret E. Morrlis his legally qualified guardian of said Benjamin R."
"
to the minor children of Edna W. Sellers (666.80) deceased daughter of intestate divided as follows:
Mary J. E Sellers $222.262/3
Sallie Sellers 222.262/3
Benjamin R. Sellers 222.262/3

"It is further ordered that James Henry Roland minor children of Mollie Roland deceased receive of said Wm. C. Oates as said administrator the sum of three hundred and thirty three 361/2 dollard for his distritution share of said intestate estate and Thomas A. Terry the legally qualified guardain of said James Henry Roland.
To James Henry Roland 333.361/2
Lizzie Roland 333.361/2

Sallie Sellers lived with Michael and Martha Roberts Holmes.

Thomas A Terry lived near the Byrd estate. Was he related?
What happened to Lizzie?

Benjamin F. Byrd was my great great grandfather (Mother,s side)
Margaret E. Byrd Morris was my great grandmother (mother,s side)
Martha Roberts Hoilmes was my great aunt (my father,s side.)

My questions are: What happened to the Sellers parents?
Did Rilah died in the war?
What happened to Edna?
What has happened to the other children?

20,000 acres of land were sold over a period of time (1877, 1878, 1879) to be distributed through the family.

I have been told that W. C. Oates, an outstanding veteran of the war, married a Sellers.
