Obit for John Zeller from The Religious Telescope, February 13, 1861.
John Zeller, sen., died of lung fever at his residence, in Germantown,
Montgomery County, Ohio, in the 80th year of his age. Father Zeller
was born in Berks County, Pa., July the 10th,
1781; and emigrated to
Ohio in 1809, and was among the early settlers of Montgomery County.
Here with his young and rising family, he commenced the arduous duties
of frontier life, and while thus engaged, preparing for the temporal
wants of life, he, with his companion, felt the necessity of religion
to supply their spiritual wants....In the fall of 1843, the bosom
companion of his youth was called from labor to rest. She was the
mother of ten children, five boys and five girls. Four of them are at
rest and six are left to travel those low gorunds of sorrow. In the
year 1845 he was married to Sister Anna Maria Bruner, and it pleased
the good Lord to call them only nine days apart.
From :
"Susan L Hallock" <SHALLOCK@prodigy.net>
Magdalena, wife of John Zeller, sen., late of Germantown, died at the
residence of her daughters, in Liberty, Montgomery County, Ohio, on
the 7th of January, 1861. The subject of this notice emigrated to this
country some forty years since, from Frederick Co., Md.,
with her then
living husband, with whom she had seven children--four daughters and
three sons. She located near Germantown for some time, when her
husband Daniel Bruner, moved to northern Ohio. After meeting the
rebuffs of a new country, and bidding adieu to her companion, she
returned with her children to Germantown. Some sixteen years since,
she was joined in marriage to father Zeller, who survived her only a
few days. For some eighteen months previous to her death, her mind
became much impaired from paralytic affection. A few hours before her
exit, her reason returned, to the satisfaction of her friends. For
many years she was a faithful member of the United Brethren Church and
proved the happy reality of revealed religion. Age--70 years, 6 months
and some days. Funeral by father Crider, in German; and the writer, in
English. G.C. Warvel, Trenton, Ohio, Jan. 25.
