Subject: [GOSS] Jacob GOSS/SW>PA?>OH>IN
My oldest GOSS ancestor is Jacob (I), who came from Switzerland
(Basel?), probably stopping for a while in PA, then on to Fairfield
Co.,
OH i 1807 with sons Henry and Jacob, and daughter Elizabeth. His
will
was written about 1835 in Fairfield Co.
Jacob (II) was also born in Switzerland in 1792, married Elizabeth
'Betsy' WARD in 1816, and died in Fulton
Co., IN in 1877. His second
wife was Margaret SELLERS. Children of Jacob and Betsy WARD were:
Catherine, 1817, md. John PLUNK
John D., md. Velma MC DONALD
Elizabeth, md. George REAM
Sarah, md. Levi BOWMAN 1843 Fulton Co., IN
Sebastian, b. 1825, md. Elizabeth ROUCH 1847, d. 1903 Fulton Co.,
IN
George, b. 1826, md. Elizabeth ALLEN 1844, d. 1910 Fulton Co., IN
The older Jacob may have come to Fairfield Co., OH with at least
one
brother, Henry. I find cemetery records for a Frederick, George,
and a
John of the same generation. Would like to know if and how these
GOSSES
relate to the GOSS families that came from Rothenfluh, Basel,
Switzerland.
The JOHN TORRENCE in FAIRFIELD CO, OH is suppose to be a son
of the ALEXANDER
TORRENCE in WASH CO, PA.
Have NO info on his Kids, etc.
