Lucretia Braswell, daughter of
Sampson
Dear cousins,
Recently a friend sent a copy of a family
history titled, The Dennis Family
of Cannon County, Tennessee written
by Rufus A. Dennis in 1940. Mr. Dennis
recalled his neighbors in that
vicinity and provided quite a lot of details
about them. One of the
families mentioned was Lucretia Braswell:
"Jacob Jr. a son of Abe Adams and grandson of Jacob Adams, Sr. born
May 13,
1815. Died 1887. he married Lucretia Sellers. She was
formerly Lucretia
Braswell. She married Nathan Sellers and gave birth
to two sons and one
dau.
Samp and Will Sellers were the
sons. Jayne the dau. Jacob Jr. & Lucretia
Adams had four sons
& three daughters. The sons were Lee, who died in his
18th yr.
Frank died unmarried; Pleas married Babe Overall. Both are dead.
Jim
B. Adams married Nola Overall. . .
"Hannah Adams married Mr. Lewis. Mary W. Adams married a Brazzel. . .
"
I believe that the Lucretia who married first to Nathan Sellers and
second
to Jacob Adams Sr. was the daughter of Sampson Braswell and
Priscilla
Williams.
Sampson Braswell was the son of Samuel Braswell and Sarah Hunt of
Nash Co.,
NC and Priscilla Williams was the daughter of William
Williams and Lucreasy
Braswell who came from Nash
Co., NC to Smith
Co., Tennessee in about 1803.
Lucreasy was the daughter of
William Braswell III who died in 1778 in Nash
Co., NC.
