Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if the JOHN & GEORGE, sons of PHILIP SELLERS
of
NORTHAMPTON
/ LEHIGH Co, PA had a brother named PHILIP who may
have possibly moved to the BURKE / LINCOLN Co area of Western NC,
then either died, moved away, or moved back to PA?
The following are two of the references made of a JOHN SAILOR in
the book,
"German Speaking People West of the Catawba River in NC 1750 - 1800
&
Some Emigres Participation in the Early Settlement of SE Missouri."
There are clearly TWO different JOHN SAILOR individuals referenced
in the
book, as there is one who died 5 October 1843, and thus cannot be
the one
whose will of 1814 mentions his brother George and nephews, G. John
and
Henry (Sellers). I will send the references on the JOHN SAILOR
who died
in 1843 in a different email as he had several siblings & it
gets longer.
The below referenced JOHN "could be" the brother of George &
son of Philip,
but the following land entries would, of course, not prove
him to be so:
"BURKE CO, NC: Land Entry - Entered
10 December 1778 - 300 acres
on Mountain Creek including improvements whereon he now lives and
his
brother PHILIP SAILOR's improvements, granted 8 October 1782.
LINCOLN CO, NC Deed Book 2:788-9 -
16 February 1785 JOHN SAILOR
of 96th District of SOUTH CAROLINA sold 300 acres on Mountain Creek
granted to him 8 October 1782."
Anyone know who this PHILIP SAILOR is? Or who the PETER SAYLOR
was
for whom GEORGE LEONARD SAILOR was granted letter of administration
on estate (1762) & of whose land he later purchased thru ULRICK
CROWDER
in 1767?
Hope these land / will records can be posted to the Sellers Pages.
If no
one
knows more at this time, perhaps it will ring a bell or help some
one
later.

This JOHN SAILOR died 5 Oct 1843 and was married to Elizabeth ?.
The
author of the book, "German Speaking People West of the Catawba
River
in NC & Some Emigres Participation in the Early Settlement of
SE Missouri,"
Lorena Shell Eaker (1994), listed several misc. entries after JOHN
SAILOR;
most, but probably not all of which, refer to this JOHN SAILOR's
siblings
who
were mentioned in his Rev War Pension File. Could this JOHN
SAILOR be the
G. JOHN, listed as a son of GEORGE and nephew of JOHN whose will
is dated
1814? Probably not, since this JOHN SAILOR's date of birth
would have to
almost as early as the other JOHN & GEORGE's as he fought in
the Rev War.
Completely different line, or cousins somehow? Who was the
LEONARD
SAILOR who witnessed a deed with his brother, Zachariah in 1782?
Was he
connected somehow to GEORGE LEONARD SAILOR??

I compared the following posting that I found on-line to the entries
that I
found in the book, "German Speaking People West of the Catawba River
in NC
1750 - 1800 & Some Emigres Participation in the Early Settlement
of SE
Missouri," - 1994 by Lorena Shell Eaker and am wondering..........
Were
there two different George Sellers in western North Carolina in
the early
to
mid 1700's, as well as two John Sellers (or variant spellings)?
I think
probably so, since the date of death & age given below would
make "George"
Sellers ONLY AGE SIX (6) at the earliest land deed records in 1762!!!
So,
which George (& the records he left behind) are from George,
the brother of
John & son of Philip Henry and which/ who the other(s)?
And where did the
earlier John and George (& there were others, according to the
book - - I
will post as soon as I can type up!) come from??
I found the following posted at the internet site:
http://www.genforum.com/sellers
by searching using the words, "George and Lincoln" :

born in PA

when he
filed his claim. After the war, he moved to GEORGIA, then
BLOUNT CO, TN,
and then to JACKSON CO, TN with the with the exception of
the time he
was in MO.
Author's note: The early land records burned for BURKE CO,
NC. No
positive
proof that this family was German. It just seems so from the
variance in
spelling. There were also other SELLERS in BURKE COUNTY whose
names
are JAMES, ROBERT, etc., and were apparently of English extraction.
There
is some indication that there were others Connected to MICHAEL's
family in
BURKE COUNTY and RUTHERFORD CO, NC. See JOHN SAILOR'S records.

Can anyone help me interpret the following entry from "Civil Action

Anne Willliams McAllister and Kathy Gunter Sullivan - 1989?
The same "LEONARD SAFREID & MICHAEL RUDISILL" were listed securities
for
the

knows if/how
SAFREID = SAILOR, perhaps I could write to the author(s) and ask
them.
