Subject: [STRICKLAND] Joseph Strickland - will 1755 Northampton Co.
In " the Strickland Family of Virginia and North Carolina" prepared
by Hugh
Johnston, Jr. is the following:
On August 22, 1765, Thomas Strickland sold John Wade 184 acres in
Northampton County. this land originally bought from George Sellers
by
Joseph Strickland who willed it to Exum Strickland, who died childless,
and

The SHORT family left Brunswick and in 1763 William SHORT leaves
a will in
Northampton County, NC. This will is also recorded in Brunswick.
An
interesting mention in the SHORT will is this: "lands I bought
of William
CHAMBERS, joining William PRIDON and the river (except about 10
acres) and
also Burk Island, Miller Island which I purchased of Hosea TAPLEY*
and the
Reedy Island and also 2 negroes."
*Hosea TAPLEY is from the same TAPLEY family that intermaried with
William
POOLE of Brunswick, and left a will in Mecklenburg County, VA, 1777;
the
line I believe to be my husband's.
