ETHELDRED PRIDGEN born 1792 here? and to COL CO, NC
From: "Jean D Teachey" <dudteach@icomnet.com>
Dear Carol,
I am researching the Pridgen Family of Greene Co. I spoke with you
on the
phone about a year ago but never followed up.
My great-great-great grandmother was Sarah/Sally Pridgen, born in Greene
Co. about 1790-1800. She married Barney/Barna/Barnabus Stanley from
Duplin
Co. He was born in Sampson Co. around 1770-1775? They had
three
daughters, the first being Mary Elizabeth Stanley, born in 1817.
The
others were Jensie and Sarah. They married Stroud's from the Duplin
Co.
area. They are believed to have lived somewhere around Seven Springs.
Barney and Sarah were in Wayne Co. in 1850. I found at LCC a piece
of
paper saying she was the daughter of Gray Ruffin Pridgen or Etheldred
Pridgen but this was not correct. Said she did not die until 1900,
however, in the will of Barney Stanley, filed in Lenoir Co, she had died
before or about 1882. I believe that it could be possible for her
to be
the daughter of Thomas Pridgen and Martha Ruffin. I noticed that
in your
web site they are listed as having a daughter named Sarah. The only two
Pridgens listed on the Greene Co. Census of 1790 was Ruffin and Thomas.
Mary Elizabeth Stanley (Sarah's daughter) married Benjamin W. Mitchell.
The names of their children fit in the Ruffin and Pridgen Families. such
as, Mary, Benjamin Franklin, Penniah, Winnefred, Etheldred, and James.
Any
information that you might have that could possibly help me to connect
her
to this family would be most appreciated, not only to myself but to others
in my family that are searching and agree with my theory.
Thank you so much for your time and cooperation.
