1787 ROBESON CO,NC MADE FROM BLADEN CO======
Good afternoon,
I found the following information in the book, "Abstracts of Early Deeds
of BLADEN COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA" compiled by Wanda Suggs Campbell,
copyright 1977. I thought someone might be interested in it.
Who is
this Robert Henry? He would be too old to be Alexander Hendry's
son,
Robert. Could he be Alexander's brother?
#040 pg 05
24 January 1797-Luke White of Sampson County to Alexander HENRY-300-a
negro boy about 18 years of age named Jim. Wit: John McMillan,

#145 pg 150
16 Nov 1796-Robert HENRY at present of New Hanover County to
Robert
Murphy of aforesaid County & State-25 pounds current money-300
acres on
east side of Colly Swamp. Wit: James Stewart, Alexr. Kelsey, Alex
Cromartie. Nov Session 1798. J.S. Purdle, C.C.

27 Augt 1799, James Kerr to Peter McBryde-60 lbs NC currency...lying
between Cypress & Peters Creek Pat by Robert HENRY on 15 Nov 1784.
Daniel Sellers, Arch'd Sellers. Sept Session 1799. J.S. Purdle,

Wynnette
(these names are in the BLADEN CO,NC BOOK? msh)
The Robert Hendry we've been discussing moved from New Hanover County
ca
1796, so it could be the same man.
Ding, ding, ding---did anyone hear the bells? Many of the names
mentioned
in these abstracts are names I am familiar with: a.John McMillan who
was
said to be the husband of a daughter of James HenryiHendry, who
came from
Scotland in 1740.
Murphy, Cromartie, Sellars, Kelsey(Kelso?), Kerr are all names that
are
related to one or both of my Henry lines. In an old letter, dated
1911, a
Robert, son of William, NH, NC went to Georgia..
I am beginning to think the old story of the 3 branches of Hendrys in
NC
and none are related.

[NCBLADEN] Daniel Melvin - War of 1812
I have posted the War of 1812 services records for Daniel Melvin online at http://www.ncgenweb.us/bladen/vrecords/servicerecords/1812/dmelvin.pdf
Daniel is listed on the muster roll as a Sergeant in Captain John Sellers Company in 1814. He served 7 days in Wilmington from October 10th to October 17th. A pay voucher also shows Sergeant Daniel Melvin and it is dated July 15th, 1817.
Is this Daniel Melvin (1769-1846) who married Sarah West, or is it his son Daniel Melvin (1794-1876) who married Celia Herrington? The younger Daniel Melvin would have been 20 years old in 1814 and that seems too young to have already obtained the rank of Sergeant. The elder Daniel Melvin would have been 45. Which Daniel Melvin is it?
