In December, 1809 Wayne County, Mississippi Territory was
formed from Choctaw Indian lands obtained through The Treaty
of Mount Dexter in 1805. On December 9, 1811 Greene County
was created out of Wayne county. Perry County was established
February 3, 1820, and originally formed the western part of the
large county of Greene primarily because the settlers didn't
want to cross the river to get to the Courthouse!
I'm the CC for the Perry County GenWeb and also researching Sellers . .

Subject: P.P. Collins and Parkers
Hi Sheila,
Your line is my husband's line. I have done a lot of research on his line,
but some of my info is different from yours. His parents lived into their
ninties and just died last year. His mother knew about her people. Iva
Sellers parents were James Norvel Sellers born March 13, 1873 in Perry
co., died in 1936 in Bogalusa La. and Lilly Missouri
Collins b. in Newton
co. and died in Perry co. Her parents were Prentiss Powhatten Collins b.1850
in Newto co.ms.and is buried in Whatley cemetery in Forrest co. He married
in Union Ms. Minivera Parker b. 1850 d. 1925. Prentiss P. Collins father
was Christopher Columbus Collins b. @1816 in N.C. and married April 21,
1840 in Mobile Ala. Ellen Goff. b. 1819 I have records of his father and
brothers also. Minivera Parker's father was Dr. Jonathan Seaborn Parker
of Jasper co. lived and practiced in Newton co. and mother was Jesmina
b. Feb. 1829 (we have it spelled Jesmina but it could have been either).
The story goes that she was portuguese. Minivera has many brothers and
sisters, at least nine. I'll have to look over my records and notes and
get back with you at your e-mail. These parkers and collins are in the
census records. Be happy to exchange with you.
