      I will try to add some info on John Sellers (Aug. 14, 1800) and his
first wife, Sarah Joriah McLemore. They are believed to have married
sometime around 1819. Several counties in MS have been suggested by
family
researchers, Jones and Perry Counties being the most accepted. My
grandfather, Vanburen Martin, was a great-grandson to John. He and his
sister, Ann, were raised by their grandmother, Sarah Ann Davis Sellers, in
Covington Co., MS.

John Sellers does appear on the 1820 census in Perry Co.
The following are the believed children:
1.) James W. Sellers m. Mary Margaret Speed
2.) Elizabeth Ann Sellers m. Joseph Barry (JoBerry) Keys
3.) Nancy Sellers m. Henry Clark (There exists in the descendants of this
family a portrait/photograph of Sarah Joriah McLemore Sellers.)
4.) Irvin Sellers m. Sarah Ann Davis (daughter of Loughton {Loton} Davis
of the Anderson area of S.C., and Mary McKenzie.)
5.) King Richard Sellers m. Martha Ann Easterling
6.) John Andrew Sellers m. 1st: Mary Ann Easterling; 2nd: Lydia A. Bynum;
3rd: Nancy A. Hawkins (There exists in the descendants of this family
several pictures of John A. Sellers.)
7.) Sarah Ann Sellers m. Franklin M. Gibbons
8.) Noel Garvil Sellers b. 1839 -- so far, I have been unable to trace
anything about him. He could have left the MS. area and moved on to
Texas.
He may have fought in the Civil War, but as of yet, no records.
9.) Hardy Sellers b.1842 in Covinton Co.,MS He was captured in the Battle
Of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., during the Civil War. He was sent to prison
in Rock Island, Ill., during the winter. According to the records there, he
died of pneumonia, Dec. 26, 1863. He is buried in the CSA Cem. Lot #74.
10.) Mary Sellers c. 1843-1844, Cov. Co., MS. She was killed by a horse
sometime during the 1860's and before 1870.
11.) Christopher Columbus Sellers m. 1st: Cynthia B. Bryant; ? McDaniels;
3rd. Ina Little (C.C. Sellers is buried beside his first wife.
Supposely, Ina took their two children, Prentiss and Dovie to Alabama, after his
death.)
12.) Francis Marion Sellers m. Lacy Jane Cockrell
13.) Susan Acquilla Sellers m. Bailey Andrew McQueen
14.) Rosannah Sellers m. James Thornton
15.) Mary Ann Sellers m. M. J. T. Thames

(The only two children that most of the family researchers question as
belonging to John and Sarah Joriah, are James W. Sellers and Mary Ann
Sellers. Both of these are connected to the line, but not absolutely
assured by old records to be their children. It has been suggested that
the James Sellers who appears in the Covington Co., MS, area at about the
time of John could be John's brother or an uncle. We have searched and
searched the S.C. records (our John Sellers was from the Orangeburg
District) trying to tie James Sellers to John through John's father,
Andrew. We know Andrew to have married 4 times, with John's mother's
identity unknown as of yet. His other 3 wives and their children are well
document.)

I teach history at our local school. As time permits, I will update these
various families. I have birth, death, & marriage dates for most of
these sons and daughters as well as their children.

If anyone recognizes any of these folks, please let me know. I would
enjoy continuing to update my records. I always try to secure each piece of
info with at least two sources before sharing with others.

Upon the death of Sarah Joriah McLemore, who is believed buried around
Eastdabuchie, MS., John Sellers married Parmelia Ann Easterling. This
second marriage ended in divorce. He m. 3rd to Martha Jane Rankin Little.
Their children:
1.) Martha Jane Sellers m. John D. Clark
2.) Harriet m. Tate Lafayette Rutland

Does anyone know the location of this cemetery? GNIS
lists 3 by the name of Union Cemetery and the two with
maps I don't think are the one I am looking for.

Christopher Columbus Sellers is listed as dying in
Mount Olive, Covington County, Mississippi and being
buried in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

My adopted father was George Owen McQueen, s/o Bailey Andrew & Quilla Sellers
McQueen. Bailey's parents were Murdock "Doc" McQueen & Nancy Gibbons, s/o ? Gibbons
& Louise Goodson. "Doc", according to a deceased family member came from Ireland,
landed in SC, with brothers Ervin & William. "Doc", stayed in Harrison Co, but the 2
other brothers moved to near Ocean Springs MS. Bailey, was the only child of "Doc" &
Nancy, and he never remembered his father who died of Yellow Fever. Nancy & Bailey,
then moved to Cov. Co, where he brother Frank Gibbons helped her procure land. She
md. 2nd Morgan Lee & had 3 children - Buddie, Billie & Ella.

Bailey & Quilla Sellers McQueen, had 11 children. My dad, Owen, inherited/bought?
the old home place & I remember the old log home way back in the field where Bailey
lived. He and descendants are buried in the Blakney Creek Church Cem. I have info.
on Bailey's descendants if you're interested.

I am the adopted d/o George Owen McQueen, s/o Bailey Andrew & Quilla Sellers
McQueen. Their children & many descendants are buried at Blakney Creek Church, where
I attended church in my younger days. I would appreciate knowing the when the church
was chartered - I think I know who gave the land, & which McQueen names are listed
if you wouldn't mind sharing that info. with me.
