As I wrote that while I was in Clark County, the town of Kahoka, I went
to there
library. And found a photo copy of the March 3, 1933, Clark County Courier
News Paper. About the men that were in the "Roll of Company G. of the
21st
MO. Inf. one of these names given was Atkinson Sellers. This article was
about one of the last living men that served in said Company, who's name
was
John P. Morris. (who was born in Green County Pa. and was the son of Justin
Morris, and the nephew of Atkinson Sellers wife Elizabeth [Morris)
Sellers).
This article was
about one of the last living men that served in said Company, who's name

John P. Morris. (who was born in Green County Pa. and was the son of Justin

If you will check the 1850 Census of Clark County Mo. for the family of
Justin Morris, you will find John P. Morris age 8, from Pa. Justin Morris
was born in Green County Pa. date March 25,
1809, and died in Clark County May
23, 1901. His wife Rebecca died soon after the 1850 Census date April
8,
1851, age 37. You will find Justin Morris marriage as well as his sister
Eliz. marriage to Atkinson Sellers in the book "The 10 Mile County, by H.
L. Leckey. PPG. 587 & 598. Marie, I have no idea if you could
use these
names, sense they aren't Sellers, but I have a long list of the Morris
family, as
will as names of some of the men that served in the 21st Mo. that are
listed from Green County Pa. Hopeful that this
information help's.

I just wanted to pass on some new information
to you and Jim. I
just picked this up off of the net. As I have written, Atkinson Sellers,
son
of George and Mary Sellers of Green County.
Pa. Married Elizabeth Morris of
Green County, about 1842, by the 1850 Census was living in Clark Co...
MO.
Atkinson and had one son that live into adulthood, name Samuel, born
1850
in
I believe Clark Co. MO. The only information that I had was that he
had
married a Lenora J.---- Samuel died in Clark County (I believe, for
that is
where he is buried with his parents.) in the year 1932. And that they
had a
son named John M. or James. M. Sellers.----New information-Lenora J.
was
the
fourth child of Elizabeth Anderson and James Leach, she was born in
Ill.
Oct,
24, 1853. She married a Samuel Sellers born in Mo. year of marriage
Sept,
13,
1892. They had one son James M. Sellers, born in Mo. 1893. James Sellers
married a Margaret Hill, Feb, 8, 1913. Margaret was born in 1892. Of
this
union three daughters were born. #1 Helen born in MO. March 21, 1914.
# 2.
Hazel, born in MO. Jan, 8, 1924. & died May 28, 1931. # 3. Louis
Sellers
born
Aug, 30, 1926 in MO.
When and where James and Lenora Sellers died. Or who these two
daughters
married. Fdh. Dennis H.
I will start out with George Sellers 1837 Will, Green
County, PA. One of George and Mary Sellers
son's was Atkinson Sellers, He
was
born the last of the year 1813 in Green County. ( Center Twp.? ) According
to the 1842 tax's record's of Center Twp. he married 1842. He married
Elizabeth Morris, born Jan, 15, 1819 in Jollytown Gilmore Twp, Green,
CO. Pa. she was
the daughter of Samuel Morris and Sarah Garard. Another child of this
family
was an Justis Morris. He moved his family to Clark Co. Mo. about 1845.
I
don't know if Atkinson and wife Elizabeth (Morris ) Sellers left at
the
same time with Justis Morris and his family. Or she and Atkinson followed
her
brother (Justis ) later to Clark Co. MO. But both familles shows up
there
in
the 1850 Census of this CO. In the 1850 Census A. & E, Sellers
has a son
age 5/12 (Samuel ) born in MO. This family is buried in Peaksville
Cemetery in
Clark Co. MO. The markers has.--A.A Sellers, died Feb, 8, 1862, age
48-7-21.--Elizabeth Sellers, W/O. A.A. born Jan, 15, 1819. died May
14,
1888----John W. Sellers S/O. A.A. & Eliz. died Sept, 18, 1860 age
5/12.---Berry M. Sellers S/O/ A.A. & Eliz. died July 8, 1861. age?
12-9-10,
or 10-9-10.------ Samuel Sellers S/O. A.A. & Eliz. born 1850, died
1932.---
The marriage index you sent me, of Clark Co.. Mo. 1900. has Samuel
Sellers
50 Mo. born March 1850. Wife Nora J. born in Ill. Oct 1859. One Son
James M.
age 7, born in MO. Sept. 1892.----- The information that I had was
only that he
married a Lenora J. born 1853, and died 1839. ( I did not find her
marker.)
and that Samuel and Lenora had a son James. M.--- I just ran a S.S.Death
search, and found this James Sellers born Sept, 13, 1892, died Nov,
1968
Kahoka, Clark Co. Mo. (this is the same town and county that Atkinson
and
Eliz. came to in 1850). According to the information taken from the
book "A
Genealogy of the Descendants of Simon Stookey" all the information
rings
true. it has that James married a Margaret Hill. You and Jim, have
all that
information that I sent you earlier this day. The only Margaret Sellers
that comes close to the date given, on the S.S. Death Index is a Margaret
Sellers, born Jan, 29, 1891. died Dec. 1972, in Bernalillo, NM her S.S. No. was
issued in MO. James died in 1968, if this is his wife Margaret, she
might had
moved
to one of there daughters home. I also wrote to you in the past, that
Atkinson Sellers might had died in the Civil War, for according to
an
article
written in the Clark County Courier News Paper. dated March 3, 1933.
A
story
being told by an age old soldier, who served in the Army of Co. G,
21st
Missouri Volunteer, Infantry. ( By the way this old soldier is named
John
P.
Morris, he was the son of Justis Morris. in the 1850 census of Clark
Co.
Mo.
he is age 8, born in Pa.) He list the men that served in that Co. two
names
he gives, are his brothers, George Morris born 1845-46 Mo. and Joseph
Morris
born 1843-44 Pa. a brother in law Joseph Sherrick, and Ackson= Atkinson
Sellers. The date of Atkinson death is 1862.?? Marie if you want to
run
this own Clark Co. Mo. genealogy web site, that's fine with me. All
I ask is for
you to clean it up some. I have never learn to keep things short and
sweet,
but I have a bad habit of dragging things out. ( This I don't need
to tell
you and Jim. )
fdh. Dennis H.
Hi Jim and Marie, I know that we need more facts on Atkinson Sellers,
who
married Elizabeth Morris of Green Co..Pa.- In the book "The Ten Mile
County"
pg. 598 We have Elizabeth Morris born Jan, 15.1819. Married Atkinson
Sellars. On the same page we have Justus Morris born March 25, 1809,
went
to Lee Co, Iowa. These are just two children
listed of Samuel and Sarah
(Garard
) Morris. There is no listing for the date of Atkinson Sellers and
Eliz.
Morris marriage.- Also, which Atkinson Sellers or Sellars are we talking
about hear.? For there are two listed for Green Co.. The son listed
in
George
Sellers Will, or the son of David Sellers, born 1832.? First, it is
not
likely that Eliz. Morris born in 1819, would marry a man 12-13 years
younger
then herself, Second we find David Sellers, son Atkinson, living in
the
1850
Census in Monroe Co. Ohio, in the household
# 423 of Frederick and Barbara
Sellers of Germany, living in the same household we have Elijah W.
and
William Ullom. Next door #430 we have son of David Sellers, Shadrack
born
1822.--- By doing a little research we find that Justus Morris of Green
Co.
married a Rebecca Golden in the year of 1834 in Green Co. In
the 1850
Census
of Clark Co. Mo. (which is only a stone throw away from Lee Co. Iowa,
which
it is said that Justus Morris moved to. ) In this said 1850 Census
of Clark
Co. Mo. we have Justis Morris age 41, from Pa. with wife Rebecca 35,
from
Pa, and Children all born in Pa. Samuel 14, Sarah 12, Mary 10, John
P, 8,
Joseph 6. two children born in Mo. are George 4, and Louisa 1. Meaning
this family
never left Pa until 1844-45? 46.----In this same 1850 census of Clark
Co.
Mo.
we have A. Sellers age 33 from Pa. wife Elizabeth 29 from Pa. and son
Samuel age 5/12 born in MO. If one checks the census book of Clark
Co. Mo. we find
that this A. Sellers is living at # 240 19th distr. also living in
Clark
Co.
Mo. is Justis Morris # 253 19th distr. (There are also 2 other Morris
living
in same distr. a Thomas # 259, and a James #260. who they are? For
I don't
find there names in the children of Samuel Morris, it does not state
where
they are from.) By the 1860 census, we have-- A. Sellers living same
County
#
649 Sweet Home Twp. and Justice Morris same County # 572 Madison Twp.---The
1860 Census of Clark Co. has, A. Sellers 42 Pa. wife Elizabeth 42,
Pa.- son
Samuel M. 10, Mo. and Perry or Berry 8 Mo.-- If we are to go by the
1850
census, we have A. = Atkinson born 1817, and Elizabeth born 1821.--
the
1860
census has A. Sellers age 42 = born 1818 and Elizabeth 42= born 1818.
I
believe that the most correct date of birth would be own there cemetery
markers, given by there love ones, which would know the correct date
of
birth. On A.A. Sellers marker it has died Feb, 8, 1862, age 48-7-21.
=
1862
minus 48 years=Feb, 8, 1814, minus 7 months= July 8, 1813, minus 7
days=
Born
July 1, 1813. ( I believe that I did that right.? ) On Elizabeth's
marker
it
has born Jan, 15, 1819, died May 14, 1888.---- There can be no doubt
that,
this Elizabeth who's stone has her born Jan, 15, 1819. From Pa. and
the
wife
of A.A. Sellers of Pa. Is the same Elizabeth Morris born in Green
Co? Pa.
Jan, 15, 1819, who Leckey in his book "The Ten Mile County" writes
that
she
married an Atkinson Sellers.-- Also, as for there only son who lived
into
adulthood, Samuel M. Sellers, his marker has him born 1850, and died
1932.
-----In Samuel's probate records, it has that his wife was name
Lenora J.
and that they had one son James M. Sellers.-- There was not much
information
in Lenora's probate record, she was the widow of A. Sellers, she was
born
in
the year of 1853, she died 1839 (I never wrote down month and day)
and that
she had one son James M. Sellers. ( These records were in the County
Seat
of
Clark Co. the town of Kahoka.) -- This is the same town that is listed
for
James Sellers, born Sept, 13, 1892.-- and died Nov, 1968. SS Death
Index. (
I
never had the chance to see Atkinson's probate record,-- reason, it
was
keep
in the Historical Society Bldg. and they were closed tell Fri.and I
was
there
on a Wend.)-------Marie, and Jim, I don't see that we need any more
proof
then what we have hear, that we have the right Atkinson Sellers, son
of
George and Mary Sellers of Green Co. Pa. and the kid brother of my
Asa
Sellers born 1805-06 also in Green, CO. Pa. Now for this 1936 book
"A
Genealogy of the Descendants of Simon Stookey#1 and Simon Stookey #
2 and
Daniel Stookey # 1. written about the son of Atkinson Sellers,- Son,-
Samuel
and who he married, and the information on James Sellers the son of
Samuel,
and who he married and the children of James Sellers. I believe to
be
correct. But I believe that more research must be done if possible.
When I
go back on line, to send this e-mail to you, I plain to check the S.
S.
Death
index, for any Stookey that might be living in N.M. namely for a Louise
born
1926, or Helen born 1914. children listed in this said book children
of
James
Sellers.-- If I find anything, I will let you know.

No proof, But, Hear is what I have. The Book
written by
the Stookey's, tells us that James Sellers married a Margaret Hill.

that

lived
into adulthood, Helen, born in Mo. date March 21, 1914.-- and Louise

Okay I found my book and hear is what it says: Lenora J. Leach
(fourth
child of Elizabeth Anderson and James W. Leach) born in Illinois on
October 24,
1853, married Samuel Sellers born in Missouri in September 13, 1892.
They
had one son James Sellers, born Missouri in 1893, married Margaret
Hill
February 8, 1913. Margaret Hill was born in Missouri in 1892. Of this
union three
daughters were born, viz. Helen, born in Missouri March 21, 1914, Hazel,
born in Missouri January 8, 1924, and died May 28, 1931. Louise born
August 30,
1926, in Missouri.
