John Thomas Sellars was born September 17, 1882 in Christian County, Mo., the son of Mayberry and Emaline Gibson Sellars. On December 29, 1900 he was united in marriage to Dora Ghan and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. One of the sons, Donald, passed away in 1952 at the age of 39 years. Mr. Sellars worked with the Frisco Railroad 27 years, having retired in 1948. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Nixa. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Sellars of the home at Nixa; two sons, Melford Sellars of Rockford, Ill., and Hobart Sellars of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Charley Cox and Mrs. Roy Middleton of Nixa; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Keithley of Nixa and Mrs. Gertie Slay of Springfield. Funeral services were held October 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Delaware Chapel with the Rev. Roscoe Harding officiating. Burial was in Delaware Cemetery under direction of Harris Funeral Home of Nixa. Milford R. Sellars, 81, formerly of Nixa, died Dec. 15 at 1:50 p.m. at Primrose Place, Springfield. Services were held Friday, Dec. 18, in the Harris Chapel, Nixa, with the Rev. Richard Cerretti officiating. Burial was in Delaware Cemetery, near Nixa. Mr. Sellars was a retired pipe fitter with Frisco shops both in St. Louis and Springfield for several years. A member and past master of Loves Park, Illinois, Masonic Lodge No. 1145, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Ozark. Mr. Sellars was an Army veteran of World War II, and had been employed by Borg Warner in Rockford, Illinois, from 1949 to 1971. His survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a resident of Primrose Place, two daughters, Kathleen Frazier, Clever, and Margie Eagan; Nixa; a stepson, Ted. Norder, Beloit, Wisconsin; two sisters, Cleva Cox and Elma Middleton, both of Nixa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Robert Harrison Sellars, 75, Richland, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Richland Methodist Church with the Rev. Vigil Manes and the Rev. Allen Finley officiating. Burial was in Camp Ground Cemetery near Richland under direction of Moss-Williams. Mr. Sellars, who died at 6 p.m. Sunday in Wallace Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, is survived by his wife, Emma; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Coyle, Ozark, Mrs. Neva Becker, Crocker, and Mrs. Mildred Starnes, Bogard; a sister, Mrs. Lotta Traw, Richland; a brother, Jim, address unknown; right grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

I am the great grandson of Mary Ellen Sellers Herndon. She died in 1944 and i am looking for the name of her Parents. I believe she was raised around nixa somewhere She was Married to Oscar Edwin Herndon and he died in 1919 and they had 11 Children before he died. she and the children are l listed in the 1920 stone county censes but the last name is spelled wrong it is spelled herdon she was in cass town ship but i know it is her because of the children's names. if there is anyone that knows anything about her please e mail me at rabbitcreekco.yahoo.com
