they/we probably have an 1880/1890 census reading or marriages along the line to follow thro on?

Thanks, marie, iowa

yes i found that cencus but before that it is as if they don't exist.  I have

been told that in order to get a death cert in ok you have to prove relation

and I have no way to do that since there is no Bc on record for my Grandmother.

Plus I have other relatives that say Jefferson Davidson's father was Sib

Sellers.  I am in a state of confusion most of the time on this one

Melanie

MELANIE,

OKLAHOMA and OK TERR census are listed diff in early years.

I know we collected some earlier .

SO who is SIB SELLERS and his kids?

Follow out that family on census/marriages/deaths

AND who were Their kids, names, etc.?

CHECK every lead out =

YOU have a DOCUMENT (1900 OK census

showing father = check out further info on census/death cert,

His Brothers and Sisters = Who = and their parents.

YOU will feel better FOLLOWING/SEEING it thro with documents, etc.

Thanks, marie, iowa

Terri Carr on Genforum:

Ann,

I am not directly related to the Sellers, but I believe that my gggrandmother married John R. Sellers, Brother to Allen S. Sellers. The Sellers and my gggrandmother's families lived close to one another in Fayette Co. & Williamson Co., Texas. You have helped me sort of figure out how my gggrandparents met and married in Hill Co. My gggrandfather lived in Freestone Co. TX. His name was James Marion Loper. I have not been able to put it together until now.  Martha, (my gggrandmother) was probably there visiting or something. Martha's sister, Verbeline also married Jefferson Davidson Sellers another brother. Martha & Verb's youngest brother's widow married a son of John R. and my great aunt Nicey Loper married a relative

named George Abraham Sellers. I have census info on Allen Sr. and other son's here in OK, if you are interested, let me know.

Notes for ELIZABETH PERLINA BANTA:

About 1912, five families of Sellers and Leinnewebers went to what was then called Las Palomas, later called Hot Springs, now called Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, for Elizabeth Perlina Sellers to take the mineral baths.  She had some kind of skin disease that the baths helped.

The men worked their way across country from San Angelo to New Mexico.  They went by El Paso and across White Sands by covered wagon.

When they reached New Mexico, the men worked on Elephant Butte Dam, which was being constructed near Hot Springs.  After a year most of the families returned to San Angelo with Elizabeth Perlina but Felix and his family stayed in New Mexico.  There was something that happened in New Mexico about some of the brother and their wives.  I do not know what for sure, but someone ran off with someone else's wife; I know the name Campbell was mentioned in connection with Felix and I believe one of the other brothers.  My mother would have known, but I am not sure.  Jerry may find something in one of Vauna's diaries, or fern may have written something.  I'll ask Jerry to look.

All from a post from Ann Choate, dated Wednesday April 29, 1998

Joe Banta says she was born in Hunt County, TX.

Terri,

Here is what I have on your Allen Sedora and Your James E Sellers.

Allen Sedora Sellers b: nov 9 1847 in Mississippi D: Jan 29 1918 in texas

son of Allen Davenport and Eliza Sellers

Married Elizabeth Banta on Oct 10 1871

and as for James E Sellers I have two listed in our family linage

1)James Sellers B: aug 1830, possible 1825 in Georgia to Abraham and Nancy Sellers According to the 1850 Copiah Ms Cencus, this cencus also lists the following as siblings:

Mary b:1832 Ms

Felix B: 1831 Ms

Benjamin B: 1838 Ms

John B: 1838 Ms ( I believe that John and Benjamin are twins)

David(John David according to the 1900 Chickasaw nation cencus for Stephens county)

Also listed as living with his Nephew Jeff David (Jefferson Davidson) Sellars along with his brother Allen Davenport Sellers in the 1900 Chickasaw nation Cencus for McClain Co, Ok

2)James E Sellers B: 1853 to Allen Davenport and Eliza Sellers

Also I remember that when I started looking up my Sellers family someone told me that no one had been able to find Allen Davenports Parents, and I think I just figured it out.  By the time the 1850 Cencus for Copiah Ms was taken he was already married to Eliza and living in another area so it was hard to make a connection but when you compare the dates and names of his siblings ( Specifically James E Sellers and John David Sellers)and the children of Abraham and Nancy Sellers in the 1850 Copiah Ms cencus and the 1900 Chickasaw nation cencus for Stephens and McClain Co, Oklahoma.  I am still working on harder evidence of this but I feel like I am on the right track here.  Abraham was born in SC so I am going to start tracking through there will let you know if I come up with anything new.

MAY 29, 2004

I believe that the James listed on pg 239a in the 1850 Copiah Ms Cencus is a brother or nephew to Abraham Sellers listed in that cencus also with the son born in Ga not La.according to my copy of the Copiah Co Cencus

and

the James Sellers listed in the 1880 Anderson co.,Tx cencus is the brother of Allen Davenport Sellers, the same James that is listed in the 1850 Copiah Cencus as son of  Abraham Sellers and the 1900 chickasaw nation cencus for McClain Co living with Jeff David Sellers, his nephew, the son of Allen Sellers

from TERRI

Terri Leinneweber [mterril@rcn.com]

Ok, I am now very confused on the James E Sellers records.

We show in Oklahoma (1900 Chickasaw nation census for McClain Co., OK)

      James E. Sellers living with

Allen Davenport Sellers  --  We are assuming they are brothers.  Is there

any documentation proving they are brothers?

If Allen Davenport is 41 in 1860 (from Williamson County Texas

census), then he was born circa 1819.

If Abraham Sellers is 42 in 1850 (from Copiah County Miss census), then he

was born circa 1808.

If Nancy Unknown is 38 in 1850 (from Copiah County Miss census),

then she was born circa 1812.

This would mean Abraham was in range of 11 and Nancy was in range of 7

when Allen was born.

This is why I turned down the family of Abraham as Allen Davenports

parents.  All the names fit, all the siblings work --

but the numbers and dates don't add up, unless I have missed something.

Any suggestions?

Terri
