I am seeking more information about Henry McGee/McGhee of Granville
He may have been born about 1740 in Virginia.
Acc to collected McGee/McGhee research....
He married Nancy Norvell in 1789, bond #4581, in Granville Co., NC.
They had a son Norvell McGee. The mother died soon after giving birth.
Acc to research, Norvell McGee was raised by the Norvell family. They
left Granville Co., NC about 1809 for Bedford Co., TN (Middle TN).
Henry McGee/McGhee, a trader with the Cherokee, then chose the
Indian wife "Ottertail", a member of the Vann Tribe of NW Georgia. They
had a son Henry McGee, Jr. and a daughter Judy who mar a Sellers. In
1800 Henry McGee/McGhee was residing at the junction of Keowee Creek
and the Tugaloo River, Cherokee Nation in extreme NW South Carolina and
Northern GA.. He may have also had a Cheokee wife Sarah Waters.
Ferrell McGee was in Granville Co, NC as late as 1820.
Henry McGee, Jr "Tarle Skaawee", married Mary "Polly" Kilburn. They
listed in the 1800 Pendleton Dist, SC census. They moved soon after
1800 to GA, now Bartow Co., GA. He and several neighbors operated a
silver mine. Henry McGee, Jr was finally murdered, supposely by Bill
Reed. For fear of their lives, Mary "Polly" McGee and her children left
by night and joined her Kilburn family in Middle TN. One of the earlest
Lawrence Co., TN records, 5/1818, list them here.
