This is a letter my mother recently found in her genealogy research information from a correspondence with a potential cousin more than 30 years ago. It is from Olena Adams in Elijay, Ga. to Barbara Sellars Davis in Erwin, TN. Date: Nov. 6 1981

Hi Barbara,

Sorry to be so late in answering your last letter, but when you run an apple orchard my time is consumed by it, and other work.

You asked if I had found any more info. In the Family Search, I've gotten back to working on it again. I made another trip to NC over into Burke Co. N.C. where I found help in the public library there, in Land grants, to John Sellers, back in 1779 (grant). He was granted 300 acres along with (sp?) Glode Creek then then later, Robert Sellers, 1795 (grant) - James 1799 (grant), which are the names that run in our family. Then they seem to drift westward - where John Sellers, Issac Sellers, Conrad, Joseph show up in Haywood Co.

Barbara, you said your great-grandfather was born 1824, and you did not know where he was born? (Census info says Limestone Springs, NC - MDB) I was talking with John Sellers who lives in Canton NC today, and he mentioned a great uncle of his who went to Spartanburg SC years ago. (John Calvin Sellers I asked him if his name was John Calvin Sellers, he said it was … So I was thrilled to know of him. John said John C. was his grandfather's brother, his grandfather was James Leonard Sellers . This gets back to where I figured he would probably fit in, but I had nothing concrete to suggest to you that he was probably in the family. Maybe this is on the right track, if John is sure what we are talking about.

John Calvin (Sellers) is the son of black-smith John Sellers, of Dutch Cove, Haywood Co. NC. I have a list of other brothers and sisters. (Never saw that - MDB) John said he had heard his grandfather talk about a brother going to SC, one brother went to Mt. Airy Georgia - around Toccoa Ga. Have you heard anything about those? (We think another brother went to Texas and donated land for a courthouse - MDB)

John Sellers is supposed to send me some copies of what he has on his research. I can tell you more then, when he gets info to me. Which I am counting on receiving very much. (No info was forwarded to Barbara Sellars Davis - MDB) John said that someone has the Dutch Bible in their family yet, and he is waiting to get the names and dates out of the Bible from someone. He said that the Bible was brought down from Penn. With _____
From the man called by Sellers in NC. As black-smith John, he is buried on his home place in Dutch Cove.
