Hi Marie,
Here are Bible records of my great-great grandfather
Frederick Sellers,
oldest Sellers family member known to me, and his family.
Fred. Sellers born Jan 6, 1822
Margaret Sellers b. Jan. 1, 1822 died October 17th, 1877
Amanda Sellers b. April 26, 1842 d. March 17th 1890
William Sellers b. Decem. 24, 1844 d. August 18th 1846
George Sellers b. June 15, 1846 d. June 1st 1892
Francis Sellers b. Aug. 28, 1848
Alfred Sellers b. Aug. 28, 1851
Coleman Sellers b. March 3, 1854 d. March 3rd 1854
Ellwood Sellers b. April 30, 1855
Leonard Sellers b. March 1, 1858
Mary Ellen Sellers b. Aug. 22, 1859
Taylor Sellers b. Jan 22, 1861
Fred. Sellers Jr. b. April 24, 1864 d. March the 6th 1897
The 1850 U.S. Census shows him living in Uwchlan Township,
Chester County,Pennsylvania,
age 28, a forgeman by occupation, born in
Pennsylvania, with:
Margaret, age 28; Amanda, age 8; George R., age 4; Francis
L. (can't read initial) age 2.
Fred Sellers, James Sellers, David Sellers, and George
Sellers are mentioned
in the book The History of Dowlin Forge by Susannah Wilson
Brody, published by the Uwchlan Township Historical Commission,
1995.
According to this book,
Frederick Sellers appears in forge records between the years
1842 and 1866.
A few records of Frederick's pay for making blooms,
anchonies and bar iron and for purchasing corn, wheat and oats from
the company
store are in this book.
Best,
Leigh Sellers Roach
I checked the Chester County, PA 1880 census page
http://showcase.netins.net/web/sellers2/pachester1880.htm,
and there was Frederick and most of his living children! I'm thrilled,
because last time I checked my main public library and the LDS center
here,
there was very spotty coverage of Pennsylvania censuses.
Frederick shows up in the household of his son Elwood along
with Fred's son Leonard. Fred's daughter Amanda Sellers Good is
in the Good
household with her brother Fred Jr. and sister Mary Ellen. Fred's
son
Taylor is a farmhand in the Pollock household. That just leaves
Fred's sons
Francis and Alfred (my great grandfather) unaccounted for in 1880,
probably in
Phila.
I have a copy of Elwood Sellers's marriage certificate from

APRIL 2006
My father George Sellers is interested in participating in the
Sellers DNA project. I just ordered a kit to be sent to him. He is
the great grandson of Frederick Sellers, b. 1822 in Pennsylvania
(probably Chester area?), as noted in the family Bible.
I hope that I'm doing this the right way. Please let me know what
else to do and how to share info.
I'm getting Sellers Digests at lroach3814@charter.net, but I more
regularly use lroach3814@mac.com.
Thanks,
Leigh Sellers Roach
