Atwell Sellers, aged 73 years, well known citizen of this county, died at his
home near Mt. Vernon on Tuesday morning, 14 June 1949, after an extended
He was the son of the late John Henry and Dallas Roberts Sellers and was born
April 24, 1876.  He is the last member of his paternal family.  Mr. Sellers
was preceded in death by a half-brother, John Sellers and a sister, Katie
Sellers.  He was married to Miss Ella Baker, who survives. 
Besides his widow, Mr. Sellers leaves a step-brother, Howard Humphrey.  Mr.
and Mrs. Sellers, although having no children of their own, reared a child in
their home.
In early life Mr. Sellers united with the McKenneysburg Christian Church but
in later years he transferred his membership to the Antioch Mills Christian
Church.  He was well known in his community and he will be missed. Mr.
Sellers spent most of his life at Mt. Vernon and near Havilandsville. 
However, he was born and reared near Robinson in Harrison Co.
Funeral services were held at the Antioch Christian Church at 4 o'clock slow
time, Thursday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. M. Lenox.  Burial
took place at Sunrise.  Thomas, Fossett and Yelton were in charge.
Active casket bearers included Dan Holmes, Ferd Wyatt, Loren Clayton, Ed
Traylor, Keller Wiglesworth, Julian Martin, Fred Wright and Grover Hart.
Flower bearers were Phyllis Colvin, Janet McClanahan, Mrs. Charles
McClanahan, Mrs. Lindsay Colvin, Mrs. Donald Holmes and Mildred Jordan.
