Judy Bayless <jbayless@snet.net>(OLD)
Hermon Fagley gave my your name and email as a person I should contact
regarding the SELLERS family in Ohio. I have just recently started
searching my ancestors and would appreciate any help you can offer
me.
Here's everything I know to date:
Michael Sellers born 28 May 1788 married Catherine Burgett on 11
July
1810.They had 11 children. Their daughter, Mahala Sellers born 29
Nov
1821 married James Kirkpatrick in 1839. Mahala Sellers was my great
great grandmother.
The Kirkpatricks have me so confused. My g-grandfather was Benjamin
Franklin Kirkpatrick married Minnie Spencer. I have the Kirkpatricks
to
this point, although I am somewhat confused on who all of Mahala
and
James children were. I have:
Alexander
William
Taylor
Benjamin Franklin
Mary Jane
Corylon
Delia
Elmer
I have no dates or other info for any of the above children. There
must
be an Andrew in this list of children somewhere as I have a photo
of an
Andrew who Benjamin's daughter referred to as "Uncle Andrew". I
suspect
Taylor was named Andrew Taylor possibly. I suspect this because
in the
1860 census of Brown Co.
one of James and Mahala's children listed was
Andrew T, 11 years old, and in the 1870 census there is a child
listed
as Taylor who is 22 years old.
At any rate, I would appreciate your help with the Michael Sellers
ancestry. I have exchanged emails with Hermon several times but
am still
confused. Thanks for any info you can pass along.
Regards,

Lucy Ellen Kirkpatrick is my mother.
I'm looking for more info on children of James and Mahala and Mahala's
ancestors.
Also, there seems to be a Kirkpatrick conflict as to who James
Kirkpatrick's father was, either Andrew m Ellen Hill or James m
Hanna
Pullance. Hermon suspects James' father was Andrew m Ellen Hill
but I
would really like to settle the question.
Thanks for any help you can offer on my Sellers line.

Judy, I'll send some info on MICHAEL SELLERS and some kids later.

Hermon has sent info on this family that we should incorporate into
these
notes also.
marie, iowa
I haven't forgotten MICHAEL SELLERS ca1785 and wife CATHARINE (BURGET?)
and their
children.
WE don't seem to have much proven, But, will make a chart on what
we do have and
maybe some of our SELLERS have info
they can send us that will Help us.
IF we just continue a few kids, maybe it will help find the others.
Where did you get the birth and marriage date for this MICHAEL SELLERS ?
THIS is only a Possibility chart with info collected from our CLERMONT,
ADAMS and
BROWN CO, OH county pages by
info/documents sent by members and the 1820/30/40/50 BROWN CO, OH
census.
MICHAEL SELLERS ca1785-1843 and CATHERINE (BURGET?) ca1795-1861/70
MALE SELLERS born ca 1810
PRESTON W. SELLERS 1812
FEMALE SELLERS born ca 1814
MALE SELLERS born ca 1815

SIX living children in 1820 (None over 1810)
NINE living children in 1830
EIGHT living children in 1840
WE only list 11 kids total and 8 kids at home in 1840 and MAHALA
and PRESTON were
married .
WE NEED the MARRIAGES after 1850 - DOES anyone have, PLEASE send.
MICHAEL SELLERS 1785/1843 is probably son of the JOHN SELLERS and
his wife ELIZABETH
who deeded him land.
Other SELLERS here, possibly brothers of Michael's ?
MICHAEL SELLERS 1785/1843 probably born PA, per Mahalas census chart.
WE also have in 1880 BROWN CO, OH =

Subject: [SELLERS] Back to researching SELLERS
Hi Everyone,
I'm a Seller descendant and did some research several years ago. I'm back to my research and am trying to put together the pieces again.
I'm from the same line as Hermon Fagley... I think I have his last name correctly. Anyway, I can't find Hermon any longer. Do you know what happened to him. He was a wealth of information.
My great grandfather was Benjamin Franklin Kirkpatrick (brother to one of Hermon's family.. think Elmer). Benjamin K's mother was Mahala Sellers b 9 Nov 1821, m 1839 James Kirkpatrick. I have Mahala's father as Michael Sellers b 28 May 1788, m 11 Jul 1810 Catherine Burgett b 6 May 1791. This is as far back as I have. My Sellers were in Ohio... Brown Co and Clermont Co. I have a note from my past research that says Catherine Burgett was born in VA. Haven't proved it yet.
I found Hermon's writing very hard to understand and am still confused on the Sellers, Kirkpatricks, and Burgetts. Marie, I believe you knew Hermon and could decipher his writing!
Anyway, I'm writing to reintroduce myself and join the Sellers research again. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Judy

=====
JUDY, thanks.
Will cc to Hermon's last email. He will help. No matter how you spell it! IF YOU know what you are talking about, you can follow his info. Very Helpful/Knowledgeable. He does Kirkpatrick history.
I haven't followed your family on thru, just the Sellers.
I believe there is a Burgett/Sellers document in Brown Co., Ohio on the Sellers pages.
And on 1860 census states born VA
AND Mahala in 1880 states her mother born VA
Hermon can help you further.
Make a TIME CHART, and use your census with marriages, etc.
THANKS for sharing, marie, iowa
