Jordan SELLARS/SELLERS of Robison Co, NC. In his affidavit, he
stated he was age 71, enlisted for 12 months in the Army "about
the middle of December" 1781 when age 18 and a resident of Columbus,
NC. He served under several different officers, but was never
in
any akirmish. His affidavit appears in the records of the
Court of
Please and Quarter Sessions, May 27, 1834. He signed
at Jordan
SELLERS. Other papers in the file show him as Jourdan
SELLERS. He
was granted a pension of $40 annually.
On Oct 29, 1853 his widow applied for pension. She was age 56
and
her name appears as Mary SELLERS. She stated they married
in the month
of July 1817, but she was not aware of any existing
record of the
marriage. She stated they moved to Marion
District of SC shortly
before his death, Sept 9, 1838. She was
granted widow's pension
Aug 21, 1854.
An affidavit by Charles OSBORNE, dated Aug 12, 1853 in Marion Dist.,
SC, stated he "was present at the marriage of Jordan SELLERS and
Mary OSBORNE which took place in July 1817. His relationship to
Mary was not given, but her maiden name was also OSBORNE.
