Subject: Elizabeth Sellers, daughter of Jacob (OH? IL? IN?)
I'm looking for information on an Elizabeth SELLERS that married
David
DAILEY.
The information I have is from a potrait and biographical sketch
(Pottawatomie County Kansas)
of their son John Dailey. It says that
David
Dailey was a native of Massachusetts, born near Boston.
David removed to Vermilion
County, Illinois when a young man and John DAILEY was born and
grew up there.
It goes on to say that John Dailey's mother was Elizabeth
SELLERS, daughter of Jacob SELLERS, and that she was a native
of Ohio.
Unfortunately it doesn't say which county but I'm leaning
towards Butler
Co. for reasons that have to do with the Daileys.
The parents of Mrs. Dailey (Elizabeth Sellers) removed to
Mercer
County Illinois in 1853 and
resided there during the remainder of their lives.
Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Jane Becker

Jane: It looks like you have some information that could be
very important
to me and my family, who descend from the Jacob and Deborah (Dunn)
Sellers
who were married in [now] Brown
County, Ohio, on 12 April 1817. They
removed to Vermilion County,
Illinois, about 1832.
My family knows their daughter, Elizabeth, by her second married
surname,
Elizabeth [Mrs. James] Lakey, of Mercer
County, Illinois. Here is the
reference to Elizabeth's second marriage as it is found in the Mercer
County
Court House, Aledo, Illinois, (I have a copy of this Mercer County
marriage
record):
Lakey, James Dailey,
Elizabeth (Mrs.)
Mercer m.

I have much other information which I am very willing -- indeed,
anxious --
to share with you.
Hope to hear again from you soon.

Marie & Rollie,Thanks for your replies to my post. From Rollie's info it sure sounds like
we have a match. Unfortunately, what I put in my post is pretty much all
the information I have. If it wasn't for the Pottwatomie County Portrait &
Biographical Album I wouldn't know squat. My mom didn't even know her
great-grandfather's name. I've attached the scans (broken up) of the bios
of John Dailey (son of David & Elizabeth) and John's son Abner Prentice
Dailey (my great-grandfather). I do have a few pictures of Abner and his
family, and info on John's descendants. Other than that, I'd be grateful
if either of you can fill me in. I don't know if John had brothers and
sisters or not. I think I've checked just about every place I can on the
web and money is too tight right now to travel to do research or to send
for records.sIn reading over the information I'm about to send I see that one bio says
John was born in Vermilion Co., IL and the other says he was born near
Terre Haute, IN. I'll have to look those up to see if it's a mistake or if
they're close enough together for it to be correct.Jane
