John McDaniel and Polly/Mary Sellars married Bracken Co KY 1800
James William McDaniel and Sarah King married Bracken Co
KY 1822
James and Sarah moved to Decatur
Co IN by the mid 1830's, to
Shelby Co IN by the late 1840's, and to Shelby Co IL by 1854. Briefly, their eldest two
children married in Shelby Co IN,
as follows:
.....Sarah E. McDaniel married William Kinney, son of Nathaniel and
Barbara (Sargent) Kinney in
1849
.....John S. McDaniel married Elizabeth Ulrey, dau of Jacob and Phebe
(Pope) Ulrey in 1852
Regarding below: Corbin, Kinney, McDaniel, Ulrey families appear in
census of 1850 in Shelby
Co IN, as do some Records families (descendants of Spencer Records)
from Bracken Co KY
area. No connection with them is certain, but association possible.
Found the
following in the INDIANA CENSUS INDEX for 1860
(which means that I do
not have ages). Ages and other info that I know is in Brackets: The
numbers following head of
household are reference numbers assigned to members of the family. I
did not take time to
number each person.

I am looking for any information regarding the Sellers family from
Marion, Indiana. (Especially any
information regarding a Jophata S. Sellers born in approximately 1882.) I
have an elderly
grandfather that would like to know more about his family he never knew.
This may or may not be the correct spelling of the 1st name, but he was born
possibly in January of 1882 and married Charmion Valle Foster in Elk City, OK
in 1909 and they had one child, Kenneth Foster Sellers in February of 1910.

Hi Marie,
I saw this on another maillist, but don't seem to see a connection with
anything on the web site. This not my family, and I haven't any;
further info. But, it looks like the poster might have earlier
generations of Sellers.

I hope you don't mind this email. I got your address from the
RootsWeb.com archive. I'm on a somewhat genealogical quest. I
happen to have in my possession a set of keys (including an engraved tag) with
the following lettering:
Please return to Ezra Sellers,
3218 N. Western Av. Indianapolis IND.
(The tag itself has Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis on it as well.)
I obtained these keys from a fellow (Garl Avery) that used to work at the
Sellers Factory in Elwood. I'm looking to
lighten my load of collectibles, so I was thinking of offering these to any
interested parties. (I also have a rare floor model of a buffet and china
cabinet. However, I'm not intending to part with these just yet.
Apparently these didn't sell at the time, so they were given to Garl. I
purchased them from his wife.)
Anyway, I wasn't able to find an Ezra Sellers in any of the genealogical
sources. Do you have any idea where he might have fit in? Also, do
you know anyone who might be interested in this set of keys?
Thanks for your time,
Brett Miller
P.S. I actually witnessed one of the burnings of the Sellers factories in
the 1960s. They caught on fire a number of times, even after the
closing. (I grew up in Elwood within easy walking distance of the
factory.)
