John McDaniel and Polly/Mary Sellars married Bracken Co KY 1800
James William McDaniel and Sarah King married Bracken Co KY 1822

James and Sarah moved to Decatur Co IN by the mid 1830's, to
Shelby Co IN by the late 1840's, and to Shelby Co IL by 1854.  Briefly, their eldest two
children married in Shelby Co IN,
as follows:
.....Sarah E. McDaniel married William Kinney, son of Nathaniel and
Barbara (Sargent) Kinney in
.....John S. McDaniel married Elizabeth Ulrey, dau of Jacob and Phebe
(Pope) Ulrey in 1852

Regarding below: Corbin, Kinney, McDaniel, Ulrey families appear in
census of 1850 in Shelby
Co IN, as do some Records families (descendants of Spencer Records)
from Bracken Co KY
area.  No connection with them is certain, but association possible.

Found the following in the INDIANA CENSUS INDEX for 1860
(which means that I do
not have ages).  Ages and other info that I know is in Brackets: The
numbers following head of
household are reference numbers assigned to members of the family.  I
did not take time to
number each person.

Elijah H. Corbin married Phebe Ulrey 1849 Shelby CoIN.  Phebe Ulrey,

brother of Sarah E. (McDaniel) Kinney, wife of William Kinney]

Intervening name: Bumb

BONGE, Albert (#IN1099458-459)

Albert Bonge signed widow's petition for Elizabeth (Ulrey) McDaniel
after John died in Civil War.  Somewhere I have additional note on this man?

PILES, William (#IN1099470-473)
Rhoda ULREY Phebe [b. Abt. 1806]
PILES, Theodore A.

Phebe (Pope) Ulrey was mother of Phebe, Hannah, Elizabeth, Catherine,
(male, died inf.), and Rhoda Ulrey.  Phebe the wife of Elijah H. Corbin and Elizabeth the
wife of John S. McDaniel.
Marriages for other daughters not found yet, but I think this is
daughter Rhoda.  Are Hannah and Catherine in this group of families or in the Lawrence Twp. group somewhere?

Intervening name: Wadkins (After writing this note, I found Ulrey
marriages to this surname in old IGI.  Have to go back and check if they match.)

P. 246
KINNEY, Peter (#IN1099476-478)

How does Peter Kinney related to the William Kinney who married Sarah
E. McDaniel in Shelby Co IN, sister of John S. McDaniel and dau of James William and Sarah (King) McDaniel?

Intervening names: Grainy, Odill, Glegwald (8 numbers), begin p. 247
Pogue and numbers switch to beginning with 1093 instead of 1099.

P. 247
BUCHANAN, J.M. (#1093801-802)
                       Nancy A.

Believe this is James M. Buchanan who was became Captain of the 79th
Indiana Infantry, Co D,in Civil War.  After the war, he was a carriagemaker at Indianapolis.
John S. McDaniel was his Second Lt.  John's brother, James R. McDaniel was Pvt. and the company blacksmith.  A Joseph Buchanan became guardian of John's minor children after he died.  How are they related?

MCDANIEL, John (#IN10910216-220)
                      Sarah F.

This is my family.  This is John S. McDaniel, son of James William
and Sarah (King) McDaniel of Bracken Co KY and Elizabeth Ulrey, daughter of Jacob and Phebe (Pope) Ulrey.  They were married in Shelby Co IN in 1852.  Sarah F. was born in IN, Viola in Shelby Co IL, and Hannah Emma in IN.  Land records and an affidavit by midwife prove trip to IL 1854-55.  James William McDaniel and most family remained in Shelby Co IL.

Intervening names: Hazely, Anderson, Doyle, Wilmington

p. 170
RECORDS, Samuel (#IN10910234-241)
                    Sarah J.

This appears to be the family of Samuel Records who married Martha
Fletcher in Marion County
IN Feb. 6, 1840.  Samuel was the son of Spencer Records and Mary
McDaniel, grandson of
Laban Records and Nancy Ann Sollers and greatgrandson of Isaac
Sellers.  Most children match
what is on database, although, since Sarah J. is listed first, she
may be a second wife.  Children
that appear to match include, Martha, b. 1842, William b. 1853,
Elizabeth b. Unk., Ada b. 1857,
and Melinda b. 1859.  Ann is uncertain, possibly Susanna.  Finally, I
note that one of the sons of
James William McDaniel, William Henry, married an Ellen Fletcher, dau
of John Fletcher of OH.

for name only.)

p. 205
RECORDS, Mary (#IN10977829-232)
                   Sarah J.

(Note: In 1840 census, both an Isaac Records and a Spencer Records
are in this township, but
they are not present in 1850 or later.  Could Mary be the widow of
Spencer Records and a
McDaniel?  Need age, at least, to indicate possibility.

     That's all for now.

I am looking for any information regarding the Sellers family from Marion, Indiana. (Especially any
information regarding a Jophata S. Sellers born in approximately 1882.) I have an elderly
grandfather that would like to know more about his family he never knew. This may or may not be the correct spelling of the 1st name, but he was born possibly in January of 1882 and married Charmion Valle Foster in Elk City, OK in 1909 and they had one child, Kenneth Foster Sellers in February of 1910.

Hi Marie,
I saw this on another maillist, but don't seem to see a connection with
anything on the web site.  This not my family, and I haven't any;
further info.  But, it looks like the poster might have earlier
generations of Sellers.

[MARION COUNTY, IN] Re: Keller Births Page 2

Brett N. Miller []
I hope you don't mind this email.  I got your address from the archive.  I'm on a somewhat genealogical quest.  I happen to have in my possession a set of keys (including an engraved tag) with the following lettering:
Please return to Ezra Sellers,
3218 N. Western Av. Indianapolis IND.
(The tag itself has Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis on it as well.)
I obtained these keys from a fellow (Garl Avery) that used to work at the Sellers Factory in Elwood.  I'm looking to lighten my load of collectibles, so I was thinking of offering these to any interested parties.  (I also have a rare floor model of a buffet and china cabinet.  However, I'm not intending to part with these just yet.  Apparently these didn't sell at the time, so they were given to Garl.  I purchased them from his wife.)
Anyway, I wasn't able to find an Ezra Sellers in any of the genealogical sources.  Do you have any idea where he might have fit in?  Also, do you know anyone who might be interested in this set of keys?
Thanks for your time,
Brett Miller
P.S. I actually witnessed one of the burnings of the Sellers factories in the 1960s.  They caught on fire a number of times, even after the closing.  (I grew up in Elwood within easy walking distance of the factory.)
