While looking through my Sellers kitchen cabinet file, I came across
a
few other miscellaneous pieces of Sellers information from Indiana
that I've never fit into my line. [These notes were made early in
my
family history research, before I had any intention of "getting
involved."] Perhaps they will help someone.
I've not tried linking these families to the Howard/Madison
County
family -- just picked up the information because it was in front
of me
one time or another. Some of the names fit the county history
information from Wilfred Sellers (1884-1924) & some do not.
I've not
done census information for intervening years or made any attempt
at
verification:

Biosketches
of Huntington City and Township. p. 532
John Sellers, a prominent farmer of Huntington Township, was born
in Perry
County, Ohio, January 4, 1822. He was the ninth of twelve children--six
sons and six daughters--born to John and Mary (McMullen) Sellers,
both
natives of Pennsylvania, the former of Dutch, and the latter of
Irish
descent.
He spent his early life in his native county working upon his father's
farm. At the age of twenty--or in 1842--he came to this county and
for
some five or six years thereafter he did such work as he could find
to
do in the way of chopping, grubbing, farming, etc. In 1848 he purchased
a trat of land, a part of which was cleared, in Clear Creek Township.
There
he settled down and worked at clearing and farming until January,
1852,
when he sold his place and emigrated to California. After a brief
period
of mining he turned his attention to the dairy and livestock business.
He returned to this county in the summer of 1859, and located where
he
now resides in Section 2, Huntington Township. Since then his undivided
attention has been given to farming and the raising of stock. October
24,
1850, he married to Rebecca Marker, a native of Farifield County,
Ohio,
born November 10, 1829. She was the daughter of David and Sarah
Ann (Ewing)
Marker, the former a native of Maryland, of Dutch and Irish descent,
and
the latter a native of Pennsylvania, of Irish descent. Mr and Mrs.
Sellers
have born to them eight children, as follows: Almira, Louisa, John,
Commodore
W., Lillian, Elmer E., Addie A., and a son that died in infancy,
unnnamed.
The second, Louisa, also died in infancy. Our subject and his wife
are
members of the Presbyterian Church.

I know nothing about DNA testing in relation to genealogy. What would be the best test to take given the below? Pros/Cons? (I and my father are male)
I definitely spring from the Sellers of IN & OH and prior to that the Zellers of Tulpehocken Twp. PA. My grandfather's mother was a Sellers and we have a fairly well proven lineage back 2 to 3 generations before her. And think we know the line 3 or 4 generations before that, but it gets murky (so many various Zeller and Seller lines interwoven).
And I am a male Bruch in a direct line of male descendants fairly well proven back 7 generations to the first Bruch in the US. And I know that some of the Bruch family has had some DNA testing. Is one test possible to use to check both lineages?

LEE, thanks. Your BRUCH FTDNA project would help you. THEY Have same prices on their projects. Read the ftdna and ft mtdna papers. Do you have a sister or aunt, they may prove more on the female side. Are you talking Wayne Co, Oh and Huntington Co., IN families? We have a couple ZELLERS that have done dna tests, but not mt dna? Thanks for helping dna. marie, iowa
