From Gospel Messenger December 6, 1952
Wolf, Barbara E. Daughter of John H and Almira Sellers was born Sept. 3, 1863 at Bourbon, Ind. And died Oct. 31, 1952 in a Minot, N. Dak. Nursing home.
I am seeking descendents of
David Wolf b. 1865 d. 1910 in North Dakota. He married Barbara Sellers in 1885 in Marshall county,
Indiana. I am particularly looking
for the grandchildren, as I have the names of the eight children.
I have extensive information
on the descendants of some of Barbara's siblings.

Abraham Thompson, 18, M, OH;
John H. Sellers, 14, M,
OH; I don't know if this is the
correct John H. Sellers but the age is right and birthplace is correct. There was
another John H. Sellers, age
29 in Highland County, Ohio, Greenfield
Township.
Next door is Austin Sellers,
25, M, OH, cabinetmaker, residing in
household of John M. Gray,
52 born Ireland
There was many, many John
Sellers in Ohio in 1850 so I input John H.
Sellers and only came up
with 2.

A note from the Mt. PleasantChurch of the Brethren, Bourbon, Indiana "A good portion of my congretation descend
from an early Brethren minister in this area,
John Sellers. He came from Ohio.
He had a sister Catherine who md Benjamin
Grisso". The minister further says: Stark Co. Ohio seems to have been one key passage
area for Brethren moving west, as I can connect back there through different
family names?

JOHN H. SELLERS
Well Known German Baptist Preacher Succumbs to Illness
Re. John H. Sellers died Saturday evening at his home northwest of this
place, and the funeral occurred last Monday afternoon at the Dunkard church.
...
The deceased was born in Logan County, Ohio,
February 24th, 1835, and died
near Bourbon, Ind., Aug 31st 1912, aged 77 years, 6 months and 7 days.
At the age of seven years he moved with his parents to Clark County, Ohio,
then to Montgomery County, Ill. When 13 years
old his father died leaving
his mother with three children, of which he was the oldest. His father
being
in debt the family remained in Illinois until the debts were liquidated,
then, according to his father's request they moved to North Manchester, Ind.
On March 8, 1862, he moved to the farm north of Bourbon where he lived for
the next 50 years, spending the last few years of his life with his son
Charles and family....On Jan. 19, 1858, he was united in marriage with Miss
Almira Miller, who was a true companion...(and) crossed to the great beyond
less than one year ago. To this union was born eleven children---four
sons
and seven daughters. Two sons died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs.
Anna
Hoffman, at the age of 28 years. The remaining children are: Mrs.
Mary
Morris of Altamount, Kansas; Mrs. Lydia Wick of Oswego, Kansas; Mrs. Barbara
Wolf of Surry, North Dakota; Mrs. Sarah Price and Mrs. Emma Reminger of this
vicinity. (blank space paper torn)...Nifong of Plymouth; (blank space
paper
torn)...of Chicago; and (blank space paper torn)...of this place. On
(blank
space paper torn)...the deceased and his (blank space paper torn)...Church
of
the Brethren (blank space paper torn)...by Elder Jacob (blank space paper
torn)...following year he was called to the Deacon's office and one year
later to the ministry where he served one year and was advanced to the
second
degree of the ministry where he served until November 22, 1879. He was
then
ordained to the full ministry in the presence of the church at the home of
D.S. Hale by Bros. David Bechelheimer, Jonas Umbaugh, and J. H. Miller, in
which calling he served faithfully until death. During the 50 years of
his
ministerial life, of which the greater part he spent in the active ministry,
he filled the office of the pioneer minister, traveling on horseback over
the
northern part of Indiana, preaching in the school houses and private
dwellings. Later he traveled considerably in the Northwest, preaching
and
organizing churches. During this time he officiated at more than 700
funerals and performed more than 400 marriage ceremonies. At different
times
he had the overseeing of the Bremen, Camp Creek and Walnut
churches...Reverend Daniel Wysong of Nappanee was in charge of the funeral
services."

Since most of these children
remained Brethren I have considerable
information on them and
would have obituaries for some..along with
corrections of spellings
etc. No cost is required but donation
appreciated.
