Sandy and Elaine,

Your posts regarding some Wayne County, IL Browns caught my eye. Brown is a very common surname, so the Browns from Wayne County who married into the Bullard Family may be a different line. Here is what I have from my book, William and Nathan Bullard Family History and Genealogy. A copy is in the Fairfield Library.

Page 87: Rhoda Ellen Bullard, b. April 17, 1863, Wayne, IL; d. Wayne County, Illinois; m. James Brown, Dec 27, 1879, Wayne County, Illinois; b. 1859, Illinois. Notes for Rhoda Ellen Bullard: There is an entry in the Wayne County Press dated Dec. 11, 1879 that a Rhoda E. Bullard married James Brown at the residence of Wesley Brown. More about James Brown: Fact #1: Wayne County, IL Press Dec. 11, 1879: Married at the residence of Wesley Brown, the 27th ult., Messers. Wm and James Brown to Misses Viola A. Sellers and Rhoda E. Bullard, all of this County.

(James Brown and Ellen Bullard made their home on a farm north of Johnsonville, Wayne County. I remember them as Uncle Jim and Ellen in the 1930s. Spence Bullard)

Page 130: Bessie Minnia Bullard ..was born January 11, 1889 in Wayne County, IL, and died December 1968 in Franklin, Indiana. She married John Henry Brown December 21, 1908 in Richland County, IL. He was born 1883 and died 1941 in Franklin, Indiana.

( I can provide more information on my Uncle Henry Brown and Aunt Bessie if desired. Spence Bullard)

Let me know if there is a connection.

Spence Bullard
