Hi again Marie. I have been sitting on this obituary for about a month now, & thought it was time to get it off to you and our Sellers cousins. This Charles Sellers who married Maudie Patterson is the last of the Sellers listed in Coshocton County Ohio marriages.  See Listing below this obituary. This Charles Sellers was the son of David and Sarah ( Johnson ) Sellers or listed for this County as Zellers. See 1850 census of said County for Asa Sellers family. I have not found Charles Sellers obituary yet. I know that he died in Peoria Jan, 15, 1969.

The daughter of Thomas and Clara Stone Patterson. She was married to Charles Sellers at Coshocton April 8, 1900, and he survives. Also surviving is one brother, James Patterson of Dresen Ohio, two sisters, Mrs. Rilla Long of Port Ohio: Mrs. Frances Stroup of Peoria: and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Funeral serves ... Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Eden Illinois.

  Peoria -- Irvin L. Sellers, 70 of 2139 Eagle Watch Drive, Henderson, Nev., formerly of Peoria, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at Columbia Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. Born Jan. 10, 1933, in Peoria to Iran and Alice Fentiman Sellers, he married Kathryn A. Barry on March 13, 1960, in Newhall, Iowa. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Brad (and Linda) of Richmond Va, and Richard (and Wendy)  of Mechanicsville, Va.; one daughter, Roberta Sellers of Montpelier, Va. eight grandchildren; one brother, Denny of Peoria; and one sister, Delores Sellers (and Lyndell ) Agee of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one sister. A graduate of Monmouth College in Monmouth, he earned a master degree in in organic chemistry from Iowa State University. During his career, he worked in research, development and sales for companies such as Olin Mathieson and Martin Marietta, from which he retired. The Funeral of the late Mrs., Sellers (Eleanor White. and widow of Asa Sellers #1.) Took place from the residence 908 First St. Age 81. died of Paralysis of the brain. A daughter Mrs., (Mary) Meredith resided with her. A son David, lives in the upper part of the city.
A daughter Mrs. (Elizabeth) Johnson Who's resides at Cremer, was also
present. Another daughter who resides in Hancock County (Sarah Kee.) could
not attend. Two son's in Kansas could not be reached.( Asa & Thomas J. )

for nearly 50 years.- Having come to Illinois from Ohio after the Civil War in which he served. He was a member of the Bryner Post of the G. A. R. of this city. My Sellers is survived by four sons,- T. J. Sellers, Fred, George, and Justin all of this city. Mrs. Elizabeth Sellers an esteemed resident of Peoria for fifty years passed away after a brief Illness. Mrs. Elizabeth Sellers age 78 years passed away at her residence 116 Maywood Ave, at 9:55 O' clock last evening after an illness of two weeks duration. Mrs. Sellers was born in McDonough County ILL. July 1, 1841. ( a daughter of James B. and Clarky ( Hays ) Tomberlin ) Fifty years ago she came to this city, where she has since made her home. In 1865 Mrs. Sellers was united in marriage with Asa M. Sellers, and to this happy union seven children were born. She leaves to mourn her great loss, five children - Thomas J, Fred and George Sellers, Mrs. William Morris and Mrs. James Walkins all of this city. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 O'clock at the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Commitment will be in Springdale Cemetery.

For 30 years a prominent Real Estate man and Contractor in Peoria died Sunday at 7;05 P.M. in his 51st year.----- Born in Fisher, Illinois, Aug, 14, 1869 and subsequently lived in Pittsburgh and Girard Ks. At the latter place he married to Margaret E. Hillier, and came to Peoria 30 years ago.-------. Mr. Sellers is surveyed by his wife, and 2 sons, Frederick M. of Detroit and Thomas Jr., Peoria. And one daughter ( Fay) Mrs. Lamont Temple of San Juan, Texas. And 2 brothers and sisters- Fred and George of Peoria and Levy Morris of Peoria, and Mrs. Louise Watkins of Pittsburgh Ks.----- Mr. Sellers was well known thoughout the State in the Masonic Circle Lodge. Mrs. Margaret Haley age 69, a Peoria resident for 52 years died at 10;30 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Hospital, where she was admitted Sept 2. A daughter of Edwin and Matlinda ( James ) Hillier, she was born Oct, 9, 1871, in Shipman ILL. She was married in 1889 to Thomas J. Sellers, who died April 4, 1920. She was later married to James R. Haley April 29, 1921. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Surviving are her husband and three children, Frederick M. and Thomas J. Sellers both of Peoria, and Mrs. Fay Temple of Pharr Tex. Three brothers, Albert and Richard both of Springfield ILL. and Norman of Ft. Worth Texas, And three sisters, Mrs. Henry Brown of Kansas City MO, Mrs. C. Schermerhorn of Springfield ILL. and Mrs. Henry (Besise) Lichtig of Beverly Hills Ca. 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. ( Sept 8, pg. 8. ) Funeral Services held this morning at Sacred Heart Church for Mrs Margaret, Sellers, Haley. Wife of James R. information taken from her grave stone, and from her husband's obituary. From grave stone, at cemetery at Triveli, Ill. Elizabeth Johnson, born Dec, 20, 1831. died Feb, 19, 1895. This grave stone is a large stone, with her name on one side, and her husband on the other side, and names of two of there children on each end of it. David Sellers-Died at his residence 1838 North Madison Ave. Sunday morning at 2. oclock. age (hard to read) 73 or 75 years. The decedent was one of the oldest a best known carpenters in the city. He was born in Green County Pa. 1836. In 1856 he married Miss Sarah Johnson at Coshocton Ohio. And in 1871 came to Peoria, where he resided up to the time of his death. His widow, one daughter Arimathes Crandall, and four
sons, Andrew, Justin, Emmit and Charles survive him. The evening paper has, born April 09, 1836.-& marriage Aug, 27, 1856.

the children preceded her in death. Those living are Mrs. Mary E. Sellers of Pratt, Ks. Mrs. Charles Bellville of Carthage Ill. and Mrs., Viola Michaelis of Chicago, Ill. and one son, L. J. Kee of Plymouth Ill. and a number of grandchildren. They had two children for sure a Thomas S. born Missouri 1912 and a daughter Mary E born abt 1922 Oklahoma. In 1930 census this family was living in Shawnee, Pottawatomie Ok. lost track after this.

Mrs. Oliver Jane Morris, 87 widow of William Morris died at 10:50 last night at her home, 215 Faraday St. A daughter of Asa M. and Elizabeth Tomberlin Sellers, she was born Jan. 12 1867 In McDonough County, and was married in Girard Kansas. Feb, 8, 1885, to Mr. Morris 70 years ago. He died in Peoria Nov. 19, 1927. She was a member of Orange Leaf Camp, Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are two Daughters, Mrs. Chloe Goff of the Farada St. address and Mrs. Flossie Crisler of Pekin. A Grandchild, a great Grandchild and a great, great Grandchild. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilton Mortuary, with interment in Springdale Cemetery. The Rev. Wilson Forbush of the United Brethren Church will officiate.

He was married to Elizabeth Wilson in Peoria, she preceded him in death March 22, 1924. Surviving are one Son Thomas James Sellers; a Brother Fred Sellers, one Sister Mrs. Oliver Morris, all of Peoria, and two Grandchildren Elizabeth and Jim Sellers. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wilton Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. H.R. Zager will officiate and interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Inquest into the death of George W. Sellers, 67 of 215 Faraday St. a Carpenter from injuries incurred when he was struck by an automobile. Mr. Sellers was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday upon admittance to St. Frances hospital. he had been struck a short time earlier in the 2900 block of South Washington Street. EAST PEORIA - Clara N. Zobrist, 99, of East Peoria died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Heartland Health Care at Riverview in East Peoria. She was born Sept. 15, 1909, in Virginia, Ill., a daughter of Harry and Myrtle A. Long Davis. She married Clarence Sellers. She later married William Virgil Zobrist on May 17, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1990, in East Peoria. She also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Surviving are one daughter, Donna Williams of Peoria; one brother, the Rev. Elmer Davis of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Zobrist worked at Hiram Walker for 38 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Fondulac Congregational Church in East Peoria, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 974 in Morton, and East Peoria Women's Club. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Pastor Dick Cridlebaugh will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Harold D. Swartzbaugh, 90 of Pittsfield, formerly of Canton, died Wednesday,
Aug. 1, 2001, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. Born DEC, 26, 1910 in
McDonough County to Jess L. and Frances Dyer Swartzbaugh. He married
Elizabeth Sellers on July 5, 1935, in Carthage (Hancock County. ) She
survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Joan) Baughman of
Pittsfiels; two grandchildren, Mrs. Michael (Lori) Clarkson of Quincy Mo. and
Jeff Baughman of Jacksonville. Harold Swartzbaugh taught school in Canton in

EAST PEORIA - Marie C. "Pee-Wee" Sellers, 74, of East Peoria died at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Peoria to Earl and Jessie Frazier Schwark. She married Arthur Sellers on Sept. 10, 1954, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Arthur (Jo Ann) Sellers Jr. of East Peoria, Joanie Humphreys of Marquette Heights, Jerry Sellers of East Peoria, Sandy (Brad) Wheeler of Creve Coeur and Angie (Jim) Markum of Pekin; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Sellers; three brothers; and one sister.

She was a homemaker, a school-bus driver for the Morton School District and was of the Lutheran faith.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Pastor Howard Love will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

PEORIA - E. Elizabeth Modlin, 85, of Peoria passed away at Proctor Hospital on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at 6:20 a.m.

Elizabeth was born on Oct. 16, 1924, in Peoria to Thomas J. Sellers and Evah A. Hunt. She married James R. Modlin on July 17, 1948, in Peoria. He survives.

She also is survived by three daughters, Krystal (Nick) Capranica of Bartonville, Lori Modlin and Lynne (the late Bill) Manley, both of Peoria; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two infant children; one son, James "J.B." Modlin; and one brother, Jim Sellers.

Elizabeth was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never knew a stranger. Her family was most important to her.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, bowling and, most of all, going to garage sales. Fishing was her favorite outdoor sport, whether it was in a boat with her husband or on the bank with her family. She enjoyed big band music, but Elvis was a personal favorite.

Her family was most proud of her strength and determination.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at Resurrection Mausoleum. The Reverend Craig Hislope will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5-7 p.m. at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bel-Wood Family Advisory Board.

PEORIA - William Dale Sellers, 87, of Peoria passed away at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
William was born on Aug. 15, 1925, in Streator, Ill., to William S. and Orpha Allison Sellers. He married Margaret M. Backes on Nov. 11, 1950. She died on April 8, 2008.
He also was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Sellers; one son, James Robert Sellers; one grandson, James Robert Sellers II; and one granddaughter, Chelsea Battye.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Sellers of Seattle, Wash., and Barbara L. (Steven) Roberts of West Peoria; two sons, William D. (Jane) Sellers Jr. of Peoria and Robert G. (Denise) Sellers of Williamsfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Soren Rundgren, Malachi Rundgen, Robin Sellers, Darin Sellers, Jessica Battye, Emily Sellers, Lindsay Roberts and Steven Roberts II; and two great-granddaughters, Lillian Battye and Victoria Brown.
William served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and received his bachelor's degree from Bradley University. He later worked for Westinghouse Electric Supply Company for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and had been a lifelong member of the Peoria Evening Optimist Club. He also served as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America.
He enjoyed boating, golfing and spending time with his family.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at St. Mark's Church, with Monsignor Brownsey officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes before Mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Runners.

Gary Sellers


WASHINGTON - Gary N. Sellers, 83, of Washington passed away at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Gary was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Peoria to Frederick and Marguerite Osborne Sellers. He married Velma Johnson on June 15, 1952, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Greg (Ellen Holy) Sellers of Champaign; a daughter, Linn (Merrill) Kaney of Oswego; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Gary attended Peoria schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953 in Korea, and he received two PURPLE HEARTS.
He spent 20 years in sales with Midwest Television and started his own specialty advertising business in 1986.
He was an active member of the Mohammed Shrine in Peoria, the Scottish Rite, and Temple Lodge 46, AF&AM, in Peoria.
Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington has been trusted with cremation rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bartonville Mohammed Shrine medical transportation fund.
