Searching for father of this guy. Marcus was born in 1828 in IN. He sometimes went by Lafayette or MDL and was a landowner and country store owner in Champaign Co IL for many yrs. Ha married Rebecca James, sister of my gr-grandfather around 1849. Marcus's mother was Keturah Ransdell Sellers Leedy. I've been trying to find info on Marcus for years without success. Help would very welcome.

Yes, the name Marcus de Lafayette Sellers is common in the lineage of James
T or Y Sellers of Chatham County, NC. I don't see the connection but
perhaps he is connected to Robert Sellers Jr. and Sarah Hall of Burke
County, NC and later Indiana.

Since Marcus usually is a poor spelling by record takers, of Marquis, when
the name is found as Marcus De Lafayette, I did a google search using the name
Marquis De Lafayette Sellers Illinois.

There is a site online: http://urbanafreelibrary.org which has records for
Champaign Co., IL., with records indexed by names. The site says the records
are available through library cards that use Heritage Quest and also has
contact information at the Urbana Library to contact for copies of records.

There are various listings for Sellers. "Marcus" is listed as L. Sellers,
Lafayette Sellers, Marcus D.L. Sellers, M.D. L. Sellers, and Marquis D. L.
Sellers.

List Marcus and Rebecca James Sellers buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.

List an obituary for him on March 25, 1925

I am trying to find information on Lucinda James who lived with Marcus and Rebecca Sellers. I would like any information you have on the James family and who Lucinda's parents are? I will see what information I can get on Marcus. My Husband is a decendant of Lucinda. We have relatives in Champaign Illinois that can get information on Marcus for us. I will see what I can find. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
