From: Guy Littman <littman@monitor.net I just received my GGGrandfather's Civil War pension records. He served from NYC from April 1861 to August 1861, when he was discharged for medical reasons. It seems he bought some bisquits from civilians in Charlestown, Virginia. They contained arsenic, which severely disabled him. So-back to Brooklyn to run his hotel and saloon. George died in Fresh Pond Road Newtown Queens Borough New York on 6 September 1897.[1],[2] Buried Evergreen Cemetery. Occupation: Saloon And Inn Keeper. Military: Civil War Veteran, 1861. Cause of death: Nephritis, Uramic Coma. Father born Switzerland (1880 Census) or Germany (Death Certificate), Mother born France. He married Isabella EVANS, on 15 December 1861 in Brooklyn New York.[3] Born about 1842 in Ireland Or New York.
