Hi. Some of this is personal. My information came from my father's file at the funeral home and his head stone.  I didn't ask the right questions while he was alive.  I lost my mother in 1998 so I have no one to ask now.  I haven't looked at the census.  My father and mother were married here in Okla. in 1940. Her name was Anna Mae (Hager) Sellers.  My father had three sons and me.  They are living and I haven't talked to them about listing them.   I listed his sisters because they are probably not alive. My son and I are putting together family history in his computer and on paper.  If I see someone asking about someone I know about, I post a reply. I had to change a post in cousinsconnect because my cousin saw it and I had listed her father.  So I'm more careful now. I have been everywhere in cal. that I can find on the net.  Records of births in the late 1800s are few and hard to find.  I am having trouble finding records of my Grandmother on my mothers side.  Thank you for listening.  Gracie

My grandfather's name was Alexander, also.  His mother's name is listed as (Mary?).  This is the information I have on my father.  Alexander Sellers- Kansas-PVT.- BTRY. E 30 Field Arty.  WW1  B. Aug 28, 1891-Oct 10, 1966.  He was a member of the American Legion and a 7th Day Adv.  He passed away in Winfield, Kansas. I'm not sure what to do with all that but mayby someone does.  Thank you for any help.  Gracie

I would venture to say that Alexander was married twice.  Where is

Prince Edward Island?  His wife Mary E. (which could be for Elizabeth)

consistently says she was born in Missouri.

Possibly a brother to Alexander.

See below for 1870 census on this family in Lee County, Illinois two

doors away from Alexander Sellers.

Linn County, KS and Rice County, KS are not close to each other but I

still suspect George W. and Alexander could be brothers.  It is

something that should be investigated.

GRACIE, thank you.

WE enjoy researching SELLERS and where your/our families came from and went.

IF you have any Uncle/Aunt/( dates/places are very important ) info to share, PLEASE SEND.

YOU may have a hard time on this GEORGE SELLERS 1793 VA and wife ELIZABETH .

YOU may need a death cert or obit or war record on son GEORGE SELLERS 1830 or ALEXANDER SELLERS 1849 (both could be in civil war records)

USE the usgenweb for counties/states for marriages, wars, etc.

USE the wives surnames also, ONE link in VA is what we need.=

WHERE GEORGE or ALEXANDER born in VA =, may be on civil war record or ??

ASK for a look up on NAME, AGE, etc.

CHECK WV records also.

WV land was VA earlier

THANKS for sharing SELLERS,

AND keep us up to date.

Message Board Post:

I am trying to find the parents of Mary E. GOLLIHER born 12 Dec. 1857 in Missouri. She is in the 1860[Green Twp]/1870[Union Twp] census living with Sarah Speight and family. She married Alexander SELLERS 26 Sept. 1872 in Scotland Co. I have ALL records for her, just cannot find her parents.
Any suggestions? And can someone tell me what was going on between 1857 and 1860 in Scotland Co. that could have taken both her parents?

ROBERT, thanks.
We/I have not been able to prove where the Wood and Jackson Co, WV SELLERS came from.
WE don't seem to have the land records that are suppose to be available before 1831, which might help.

I don't know/remember how the Scottish ancestry was proven??
I don't believe I know Where Alexander Sellers 1859 VA was born?
WE need this info to Prove families.

I do Not know which George? Sellers went to OH in this time frame? from Jackson Co, WV (one from Greene Co, Pa and son went to Wood Co, WV later)

Yes, we have several Free Colored Persons here in 1830 Wood Co, WV that could possibly be same as Jackson Co, WV.
and NO will/documents listing same!
Is there another way of proving ?
http://www.sellers-sellars-sollars-zellars.net/wvwood.htm
They belong to our SELLERS families. No matter what color, etc they are. and we want to Prove their families.
Yes, we could use a dna test here on one of these families!

IF you see anything you have documented or have possibilities on, Please Send.
Appreciate your help.

IF anyone sees something I don't, Please send.

Gracie,
I am very surprised to learn that Marie Sellers-Hollinger was not able to help with your Sellers Branch. When I began to read what you sent I was thinking your line might be from the Heindrich Sollar/Sellers line from Germany to PA in the early 1700s. One of his descendants founded Sellersville, PA. Some of his descendants went down into the NC area and also into the Shenandoah Valley (Rockingham Co.) area as well as they opened up. But, I then that you said Alexander Sellers was of Scottish Descent.

Good hunting, and I well keep my eyes open for Jackson Co., VA/WV Sellers'

Bob

buried in the Hennepin Twp., Cemetery.

In the 1870 census for Alexander Sellers(Willow Creek), his mother Elizabeth Sellers, 67 is living with him and his first wife, Elizabeth b. 1851 and their son, John, 8 months, b Illinois. The older George is nowhere to be found.

The 1880 census has Alexander Sellers in Sterling, Rice Co. KS with his second wife, Mary E., 23, MO. Now son John H. is listed as her son. sons: Oscar H. 3, b. MO. Harvey W. 5 months.
Here is the 1900 census which is the only one that has all the children, except John who is nowhere to be found.
