If any of the descendents of  Allen Pridgen are still with the Pridgen group
i need help if anyone can help.   Allen b.1814 died 1877  md. Mary ?  NC or
Ga. moved to Coffee co , Al.  had several children, he returned to Taylor
Co, Ga. Mary died then Allen  md. Sarah Goff 1853 they had several children
according to 1860 coffee co Al. census Allen and Sarah had James, John,
Thomas, Elizabeth, and Margaret . I could't find Sarah's  grave  I went to
Taylor Co, Ga. records looking for information on Mary .  ? much to my
suprise i found Sarah Prigeon wd. /o Allen ; md.1853 she has in her house
hold  daughter Barefield, Adeline [Pridgeon] with four granddaughters and 1
grandson.  in the house before Sarah is listed James R. Pridgen  his wife
and
family also listed is Eliza Pridgeon 22.  all this info is on the 1880
Taylor Co, Ga.

the spelling of Pridgen is spelled in three ways this is all one family i
think these children are Sarah's and Allens children there was also a
reference to a Mary Downing which could also be one more of their children
If
any one can help with this please let me hear from you

I am also looking for information about Sarah Goff Pridgen and her daughter
Adline Pridgen Barefield who were listed next door to James B. Pridgen ,
Sarah was living with Adline and her children, 1870 Taylor county Ga census.

this much i know .

Allen Pridgen had a wife named Mary who died abt, 1853 [Jan--April]

Taylor Co,Ga court records show Allen applyed for executer of her estate.
April 1953 court term.

July 1853 Allen Pridgen md.  Sarah Goff Taylor Co.Ga. [have copy of record]

1857 Taylor county Court records show  a Alexander P Jones is trying to get
court to give him the minor children of Allen Pridgen list children',

again 1858 March term.   " the petition of Alexander P Jones for letters of
Guardianship of the  persons and property of minor children of Allen Pridgen
. Due and legal notice had been given and no objection filed. It is ordered
that letters of Guardianship  issed to Alenander P. Jones upon his giving
bond and security and taking the oath required by law.

1860 Coffee county Alabama  census i find Allen Pridgen , wife Sarah and
children
at home is James B [R] Pridgen b.1854 ,John 1855,  Thomas  1856, Elizabeth
1859 and Margaret.  1848 [Sarah's step daughter]  Sarah , James or Thomas are
found in any of the census for Al. after 1860.

Go back to Taylor County Ga, James R. Pridgen with his wife and family are in
one house, while Sarah and her Daughter Adline in the next with Adline's
children.
Here Sarah is listed as a widow.

me i think this is Allen's children and that Sarsh cought him caten around so
her, James and Thomas packed up and went back to Ga.

we know Allen had other children by Gilliann Frances Taylor begining around
1868 George W Pridgen was the oldest of these children. then Americas,1872,
Idella, James Lawson, 1869 and others.  so judging by the year of birth for
these children it all fits together .   Allen Pridgen died Aug.1877

what do you think ??  don't be shy    Ann

I think there is a lot of confusion on our parts about
Allen Pridgeon, James Pridgeon, Sarah Jane Barfield
and Sarah Goff.
My opinion is they are not the same people.  My Sarah
Jane Barfield Prigeon was not your Sarah Goff.
The James Pridgeon listed for 1870 was actually Jane
Prigeon.  I have a copy of the original census and it
reads Jane not James.
Are you getting your imfo from the book "They tarried
in Taylor"?  If you are, it is wrong.  I, too, thought
it was James from the book until I looked it up on the
orginal census micro film. read it when she Maybe, it
looked like James to her because, maybe, her census
reader made it to small to make out.  Or, maybe, it
was a misprint from the printer. I don't know but I do
know I enlarged the film to the point on the reader I
could clearly see it was Jane not James.  Please, look
at the original micro film.
My Sarah Jane Barfield could not have been married to
Allen Pridgeon because his Sarah was in Alabama census
when mine was in the Taylor County Census.
Please, go back and re-research your James Pridgeon
and Allen Pridgeon again to prove me otherwise.
It's not that I don't want to be a part of you guys.
I'm sure we maybe related through the prigeons somehow
but not the way you think.  I could be wrong, also,
but I need you to prove differently than the way you
have proved already.

My copy reads:                                PG.324B

Ann Cline,

Do you have a census reference for Allen Pridgen in 1850?  I found an abstract in Taylor County, Georgia that you have mentioned before concerning Allen Pridgen.  This abstract is where Alexander T. Jones applies to be the guardian of Stephen J., James B., John W. Martha A., Nancy J., and Margaret M Pridgen, minors of Allen Pridgen, deceased.  Dated 10 Feb 1858.

If Allen Pridgen is deceased by 1858, he can't be the same Allen Pridgen who is in Alabama in 1860.  I think we need to sort out two different Allen Pridgens.
