The Ws. is possibly for Willets. I have another Daniel Willets Sellers in
my database as being born 11 December 1831 and died November 1921 in Marion
County, Florida. I have that this Daniel Willets Sellers married Sarah Ann
Blackman, however. He is the son of Willets Daniel Sellers, Jr. and Sarah
Stanaland. I know we have some people researching these lines. GEORGIA #1

I noticed that Elsie was questioning the relationship of George and
Handy
Sellars to the Stanalands. Handy and George were former slaves
of Willis
and Sarah Sellars. (Sarah was a Stanaland.) Marion County, FL
property
records indicated that Willis purchsed George from someone in NC (can't
remember who owned him.)

Dear Marie,
Here is the information about the Descendants of William Sellers, Sr.
of
Isle of Wight, Virginia, 1657 book:
William Sellers, Sr., the immigrant ancestor, arrived at Isle of Wight, VA
from England about November 1657. He became the progenitor of the Southern
branch of Sellers family, who migrated into North Carolina about 1700 and
then disburse from there into many other Southern states. This book
includes 13 generations of his descendants.
Elisha Sellers and his family moved to Brunswick Co., NC about 1762, where
he and his son, Calvin Sellers, served in the American Revolution. Some of
the Sellers families moved westward from North Carolina about 1790 into
Tennessee and Kentucky. Between 1820-1835, other Sellers families began to
migrate to Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas.
In 1848, Rev. Willets Daniel Sellers and his family moved with the
Stanalands and other families from Brunswick Co., NC to Marion Co., FL. The
Sellers and Stanalands were the first settlers to move east of Fort King and
the Ocklawaha River (Ocala). They homesteaded on land at Little Lake Bryant
in what is now the Ocala National Forest.
Copies of this book have been donated to the Florida DAR at the Library in
Orlando, FL and the National DAR Library in Washington, D.C. It may be used
as proof on your application papers for membership in the Daughters or Sons
of the American Revolution (DAR or SAR).
