I tried to send the below note to Joe Sellers, but the e-mail address comes back as invalid. I would really like to see and copy the Marlowe document. Can you give me his current e-mail address, or can you perhaps answer the question I posed to Joe? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Joe,
My name is Ed Hudson, and I am researching the Brunswick County, NC Sellers family (my wife's ancestors). I've tried several times to download your version of the Marlowe document by clicking on the little block you provided on the Sellers Genealogy site, but after telling me it is "downloading from the site", it reports that it is "done", but the page is blank. I would really like to see this document. I am activating Adobe Acrobat Reader before I download, but nada. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong, or another way I can get the document? Thanks for any advice you have.

Thank you for your response. I hope Joe can help me reach the Marlowe document. You asked for a small chart of our Sellers family line, but unfortunately it's not small. As you know, these Sellers are and have been a prolific bunch. My wife is the former Rosemary Sellers(b. 1941). Her family comes from the Horry County, SC Sellers which trace back to the Edgecombe/Brunswick, NC Sellers, which trace back to the Isle of Wight, VA Sellers. Her line, from her father back is as follows: Jesse Lee Sellers(SC-1918), Benjamin Franklin Sellers(SC-1876), Sion F. Sellers(SC-1843), John Asberry Sellers(NC-1820), Sion Sellers(NC-1775), Joel Sellers(NC-1749), Benjamin Sellers(NC-1720), Matthew William Sellers(NC-1678), John Sellers(VA-1657/70), and William Sellers, Sr.(Eng.-1637) (the original emigrant from England to Isle of Wight Co., VA in 1657). There are many, many spouses, siblings and sub-branches from this direct line. Our line splits away from most at Joel (b. about 1749), who was the only child of Benjamin(b. 1720) and his second wife, Sarah Hickman. Benjamin had at least seven other children with his first wife, whose name is unknown to me. WE don't have much Info - posted or Shared on JOEL SELLERS born ca 1746 to 1750.
SON of BENJ dec'd in 1761.

WE need ages NC used for minors in 1760's =

WE need ANY and ALL documents posted on this JOEL SELLERS.
WE are missing tax/land/census records on this family.

I see where you pick up your family in Horry Co, SC = ALL kids born SC on census I fast checked.
And where I been looking /searching is Columbus Co., NC.
SAME?
COLUMBUS CO, NC was Brunswick and Bladen Co before 1808? memory

Bothers me that we can't find a few more clues, LAND transfers, etc in NC or SC,
or NC births?

I haven't checked your pages yet and perhaps they will Show more proof.
I see We have a couple more letters from you and I Know you want to hear and share info with our SELLERS.
Perhaps , they have newer info they will send us also, so we can bring our pages up to date.

ED, thank you. YOU have done a lot of work and entries on these families.
Yes, I still have the original you sent.
It appears to be similar to what we have documents on.

I still have not Studied it, except per JOEL SELLERS 1748/50. I would like more discussion on him and WHERE his kids are in 1775 (born SC?)
and WHO and WHERE is wife is also.

WE seem to have a JOEL SELLERS born before 1775 in COL CO, NC in 1800's.
WHO IS HE? and his Kids. DO you show him on your charts?

Please understand my questions.
WE all share info on our SELLERS FAMILY GENEALOGY.
WE all are entitled to our own beliefs

I am attaching a report of descendants of William Sellers, Sr. (b. 1637) from my file. My wife, the former Rosemary Sellers, is in the 11th generation on page four. This file is very much a work in progress, and changes almost daily. In some instances, such as which children to attach to which spouse, my source data has been conflicting, so I've made the best conclusions I could by logical deduction. If anyone has any solid corrections or additions, I hope they will contact me. I've not included many Sellers in Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida because they were getting a little remote from my wife's line, and you gotta stop somewhere.

I have deleted the outline descendant chart I had posted on my home page for William Sellers, Sr. and added a narrative style descendant report instead. It's a lot easier to follow, and it contains a lot more information. Since my entire homepage is a work in progress, the new report contains quite a few additions and corrections that I've made since publishing the previous report. Since this data is still in a state of flux and changes every week, I offer it as a guide only, and not as "the definitive answer" on this subject. Again, the link to the homepage is:

Thank you for your response. I've checked the sites you gave me, and while they give me a lot of data on James Sellers 1759 and his descendants, I can find nothing to lead me to his parents. I thought perhaps that you might have that information from the comments you posted (cited in my original note.) If not, I'll just keep pluggin'.

ED, We may have members who have linked James 1759 to possible parents.
Their pages should be shown on the county pages he connects to = namely,
Chatham and Burke Co., NC.
Some may Not be active members at this time. But, they have shared their
info/charts with us.
YOU may need to contact direct for their view, etc.
WE do expect ALL new info/documents to be sent thro the SELLERS group.

We had a couple? SELLERS born in Chatham Co, NC before it was formed in
1770, so we must find out where the land laid to know what county we were in
1760?
Orange and Rowan Co., NC has possibilities.

I don't know, but, we have a JOHN and a THOMAS SELLERS in these areas in
1750's
with Unproven kids.
VERY hard families to prove. Few wills, but, we can exclude those families
that are proven and see what we have left?

WE have a MARY SELLERS born 1735? memory IRELAND , that married or lived
in this area (married SPURGEN-loyalist?)
That I believe is a very good possibility.
SO , she would have an immigrant father on a ship?
WE/I seem to be missing some Documents on that family = we need more
document proof.
I did NOT mean to say/indicate I knew JAMES SELLERS 1759 parents, I just
sent info we had.
Thats the documents we have.

#2 answer = Then I sent you the EDGECOMBE CO, NC page which probably shows
your family chart.
Its very possible one of those kids , married and left home and went to this
area?

The information I have is Joel Sellers (b. 1745 in Edgecombe County, NC, d. 1787-89 in Brunswick County, NC). He was the only child of Benjamin Sellers (b.1720) and his second wife, Sarah Hickman (b. 1725-28 in Edgecombe County, NC). Benjamin had seven other children by his first wife, but her name is unknown to me. The other children are Benjamin (Abt. 1740), Matthew (1743), Elisha (about 1741), James (about 1744), Mary Penelope (About 1746), Jechonias (1747), and Simon (1748).
Joel's wife's first name was Amelia, but her last name & dates are unknown to me. Joel and Amelia had four children, Sion (b. 1775), Matthew (b. 1780-84), Elisha (b. 1785), and Joel (b. 1787). My wife (Rosemary Sellers) is descended from Sion (b.1775).

I don't know about the Joel Sellers born in Columbus County, NC.

I've found some interesting tidbits about William Sellers, Sr. who came from England to Virginia. This data comes from the family tree of Durell Sellers (WFT Vol. 12, Tree # 3552), but his source is not shown.

                                              Birth 1637
Jan 1641/42, heir of John Kirbe, Charlton, England. Proven Jan. 1642 in Oxford, England. 1657, was among 7 prisoners from England with Christopher Reynolds, came to the Colonies. Jan. 16, 1676/77, he was among a group of petitioners to spare the life of William West.
                                             Death: Unknown
                                 A participant in Bacon's Rebellion

(This next obviously should be his son or grandson, since William would have been 100 years old at the time.)

          1733, Held land in Isle of Wight, Va. 200 acres south of Nottaway River.
          1734, Held 200 acres South of Nottaway River.
          1742, Held 235 acres south of Nottaway River

This Durell Sellers Tree also has Matthew William Sellers' (b.1682) wife as Catherine Jordan (b. 1690, m. 1706, d. after 1740).

The attached document contains all the Sellers info I have. It is considerably different from earlier versions you may have seen, particularly in regard to William Sellers, Sr. and to William Benjamin Sellers/Sarah Hickman. It contains all info I have on the siblings of Sion Sellers (b. 1775). Hope it helps.
