Wedding certificates of Sarah E Cannon and Samuel Ward Sellers

Wedding certificates of Sarah E Cannon and Samuel Ward Sellers #2

Wedding certificates of Sarah E Sellers and John Henderson

I received the civil war pension papers of Samuel Ward Sellers yesterday.
The papers contain several interesting items.
The first item that I was most interested in is a copy of the Marriage
Certificate of Sarah E Cannon and Samuel Ward Sellers.  The date of marriage
is a year earlier than what is on your website.  The true date of marriage
is 1852.
The papers however do not show when or where Sarah died.  In fact, the
latest date that I can find in the papers is about 1872.  And I know Sarah
was alive as of 1900.  Any ideas?

ED, thanks for sharing.
This is a natf 80/85 form you sent for info?
NOW, its possible the Daughter of Samuel and Sarah drew this pension and
SARAH E. HENDERSON was her grdn.
Was the Minor of age or die about 5-17-1872?
How long did a child draw pension? certain age?  I believe a wife drew on
kids under 16?
NEED the Rules posted here!

NOW there is a JOHN HENDERSON in IND CW =  8? 29 IND INF = WIDOW, SARAH E.
HENDERSON
APP # = 442564 AND 390481? in 1891/1894 in IN I believe
IF she remarried , she may have drawn on his CW papers and maybe Had to
after remarriage =  from memory.
I would check it out. marie, iowa

Yes Sarah was the Guardian.  She went into a lot of detail including
afadvits from the attending physicians to establish the childrens
descendancy from Samuel W Sellers.  Three of the children Cloea F ,Martha A
,Morris H would have been minors when the paperwork was filed.  The youngest
would not have reached 16 until 1883.  Sarah was allocated $6.00 per month
and an additional $2.00 per month per child as her pension.
It never occurred to me that her second husband might have served in the war
and that there might be a second set of papers.  Thanks for the idea!  Now,
I need to order those records.
Also the 1900 Census shows Morris Sellers and Irene (Sellers)Heimberger in
St. Louis, Missouri.  Since they are Sellers/Cannon, I thought this may be
of interest to someone somewhere.

Thanks!

I received copies of John Hendersons civil war service and pension papers
last night.
Sarah died Dec 22, 1910 in Martin, Tenn at the home of her daughter Martha
Hudkins.

ED, Thank You for sharing with us. I am Sure it is a Good feeling!
We don't have the 1910 WEAKLEY CO, TN posted.

IF you get it on her and family,  please send and Best Wishes.

Two items came to light yesterday.
1.  The attached email came from Weakley Co Tenn. and contains the cemetery
information for Sarah Cannon and Martha Ann Sellers-Hudkins as well as
Martha's husband.

The woman who sent this to me also included additional information on other
Sellers.  I didn't know if this would be useful to you or not.

2.  I found another website with considerable data about Sellers.  It had a
reference to my Sarah E Cannon and her husband Samuel W Sellers.  It claimed
he died in Martin Tenn. (the death date is correct) but there was no name or
email address on the website.  I thought you might be aware of who had
posted the data.

ED, thank you.
Yes, this sounds like a good Link to check out. His mother was a Ward and we have many documents on these families on our Cass Co, IN.
http://showcase.netins.net/web/sellerfamily/indcass.htm
I added a link for you = receive info, please send. We need more sources.
Our James Sellers/Sellars has done a lot of work on these families, but, he would probably link his back to PA.

Don't understand why we can't find a reference to the name who submitted info AND no source for proving same to TN?
Please Send if known.
WARD family may have info?

WE don't have ALL documents to this TN page.
http://showcase.netins.net/web/sellerfamily/tnweak.htm
Could use the 1860 census on him and the  1870 census and where kids born, etc.
THANK YOU for sharing SELLERS.

I'm honored....
I am going to work on getting the obits of Sarah and Martha will let you
know what I find.  I went back and checked the civil war pension papers on
Samuel Sellers and they clearly state that he died in Fulton Co.  However,
in the papers of John Henderson, there is a affidavit from a minister in
Tenn. who claimed he buried Samuel (it doesn't say where).  I am going to
double check that!  More later as the saga continues.
