Re: JABOB B. SELLERS
My sellers research has lead me to Jacob B. Sellers born 1805 in Md
died
1881 Manchester, Carroll Co., Md. I have not been able to
get beyond him.
His wife was Elizabeth. He was a
blacksmith. They had five kids: William,
Barbara, Edward, Jacob, Mary. I would greatly appreciate if you
could
check to see if he is mentioned in your Sellers
Letters. Thank you, Ed

Do you have any information about William Lewis Sellers (listed below)?(above
now,msh)
saley@tri-lakes.net
Roger and everyone,
I believe that I am a descendant of Paul Seller but I have not been able
to
prove it. My GGG grandfather Jacob B. Sellers b 1805 and his
wife
Elizabeth are buried very near to Elizabeth Hofman, wife of
Paul. I
believe that Paul and Elizabeth are the grandparents of
my Jacob but this
has not been proven. I have not been able to
find where Paul is buried.
This is what I know:
1. My Paul Seller owned a very
developed 217A, patented "Everything
Needful" in the Pipe Creek
Hundred, Balt. Co. in 1798. This Pipe Creek
Hundred became part
of Carroll Co. Jacob Sellers unproven s/o Paul was
living on
the 100A next to Paul also patented "Everything Needful". (This
Jacob I believe to be the father of My Jacob B. Sellers.) The
land
information is from THE PARTICULAR ASSESSMENT LISTS OF BALTIMORE
AND
CARROLL COUNTIES, 1798 by George Horvathur.
(NOTE: I do not believe that Paul went to Washington County as
noted in
other references. I believe that Paul settled near
Manchester, Md and he
his probably buried somewhere on the 217 A he
owned.)
2. The 1800 Md census does not list this family.
The 1810 census Md lists
George , Jacob, John, and Peter Sellers
living in the Pipe Creek area. (I
believe these men to be sons
of Paul. Some are listed in the posted
cemetery list of Carroll
Co. There was also a Philip Sellers estate
settled in 1837
Carroll Co., Md. administered by Jacob Sellers.)
3. Paul had 7
sons and 3 daughters. Five of the sons might be as listed
in
#2: George, Jacob, John, Peter, Philip
4. Paul
Sellers is also listed as one of the 9000 men who swore allegiance
to
Maryland during the revolution.
If you can add to my research I will greatly appriciate it. It seems
like
I am the only one researching the Paul Seller family of
Baltimore/Carroll
Co., Md.

your information on the Paul Sellers, 1734,

I am not 100% sure, but I believe I know all of the names of Paul
&
Elisabeth Hofmen Seller's children, the "7 boys and
3 girls" mentioned on
Elizabeth Hofmen's headstone #GA2-53.
The names were found in the Will of Philip Sellers who died 1837 in
Carroll Co., Md. The will of Philip Sellers was the first
order of business in
the newly formed County of Carroll,
Md. Philip's estate was divided equally
between his 3 sisters
& 6 brothers. Philip Seller's Will does not mention
his
parents.
I believe these are the Children of Paul & Elizabeth Sellers:
Philip died 1837

Jacob # A07-01 Manchester
Cem
John
#A07-05 Manchester Cem
Peter Manchester

George
Abraham
Elizabeth married Peter Ulrich
Polly married George Wareham
Cathrine single, divorced or widowed in 1837
I believe I descend through Jacob Sellers son of Paul &
Elizabeth. And I
believe that your John Sr. is my Jacob's
brother.
The Will of my Jacob Sellers buried in Manchester Cem. lot #A07-01
gives
the names of his wife as Barbara (unknown) most likely
buried in lot #A07-02.
On Fred's Page, Bucks Co., PA, I believe
you might have listed this
Barbara Sellers as her husband's
sister?
Children of Jacob & Barbara Sellers:

Catherine married David Deal
Jacob (my grt grt grandfather I believe)
My grt grt grt grandfather was Jacob B. Sellers b 3/15/1805 d
2/10/1881.
Jacob B Sellers and his wife Elizabeth (unknown) are
buried in the
Manchester Cemetery Lots A18- 27 & 28.
Jacob B. Sellers was a blacksmith
in Carroll Co, Md.
According to the book TWO CENTURIES OF GRACE AN GROWTH
IN
MANCHESTER, 1760-1969, by Harvey G. Schlicter, page 246; Jacob B.
Sellers opened his shop in 1847 at 111 N. Main St. in
Manchester. His son E.G.
later took over the
business.
Children of Jacob B. and Elizabeth:
William Lewis
Barbara Elizabeth Sarah
Edward G.
Jacob Peter (my grt grt

Jacob P., my grt grt grandfather b 7/20/1840 d 9/3/1912 was also
a
blacksmith. He married Rachel Ann Boring 1/27/1866 in

Leila b 1878
All of the children of Jacob P. Sellers & Rachel Boring
were born in
Manchester, Md. Then before 1880 census they moved
to Marysville, Union
Co., > Ohio. I see now that most likely it was his cousin George
L. Sellers that
persuaded them.
Leroy [Roy] Boring Sellers their son was also a blacksmith. My
grt
grandfather Roy Sellers set up his shop in Powell, Delaware
Co., Ohio.
Just east of Marysville. Roy married May
Jane Chambers. Her family was Janes
/Chambers from
Vermont. His parents came to live with them in their old
age. Leroy Boring Sellers is buried in the Powell Cemetery,
Liberty
Township, Delaware County, Ohio. Most of his
descendants live in and
around Columbus,
Ohio.
How can I get a hold of your resource Roger Sellers? I am sure
he would
be interested in my information.
I do hope this information will be posted on the SELLERS family/Carroll Co., Md site.
