My 2 x great-grandfather was the fifth child of John Scheer and
Elizabeth Zeller.  He was Frederick Charles Scheer (1847-1918).
Frederick belonged to the 41st OVI, Co. D during the last year of the
Civil War.  Frederick was married twice. 1) Mary Agnes Kane in Chicago,
Illinois and 2) Anna Leach in Sycamore, Illinois.  Fred and Mary had 3
children; Charles, John and Nellie.  Fred and Anna had one son, Fay.  I
am the great-granddaughter of John Scheers (his father added an s to the
end of the surname) and Theresa Schmaus.  John came to Alberta in c.
1896 to search for gold.  He eventually became a farmer and settled in
Ardrossan, Alberta.
