Enclosed in the FAMILY BIBLE of ENOCH and EMELINE SELLERS
is a centerfold record from an earlier family Bible belonging originally
to
BENJAMIN and ELIZABETH SELLERS
MARRIAGES, PAGE 2
Betty Harris has passed along your notes about the Sellers, and I
do have some info to add to yours. I do have the line back to John
and Mary,
parents of Benjamin, born in 1797, but I can't find where they came
from. Yes, Benjamin's first wife was a Bruce, and her entire family
is listed
under the Flake family, as her mother, as I remember, was a Flake
(no offense).
I will have to dig out that material for you, as it's somewhere
in my files, and doesn't come readily to hand. But I am copying and
sending to
you the evidence that does come readily, and after the June planting
season I will get into those files.
You know, we all have our daily routines, and since I have a big
garden, I have to attend to the planting right now.
You live in Iowa? I guess Several of Benjamin's children settled
in Iowa rather early. My grandfather was Benjamin's last child, Enoch,
who
homesteaded around North Platte, Nebraska
in the late 1880s. They had a rough time with drought and economic
problems and retreated back
to Indiana after they proved up the claims. Later they went
to Kansas, and my father, born in
1891, grad from high school in Great Bend. They
ended up in Emporia, as successful farmers. But there are
no progeny named Sellers. There were only 2 sons, Enoch and William,
only one had
children. My father's only child was a girl--me. Too
bad.
I think Benjamin must have been quite a guy.
Please send me a postal address, as these records I have for you
are not on the computer. Betty is trying to make me literate with
computer
postings, but I'm better with a hoe and spade than with a program.
Sincerely, Catherine Angle
CATHERINE, thanks.
Okay, I believe we are talking Dearborn
Co., In and Hamilton Co., Oh?
We have a few documents, but, need more.
Need where John SELLERS born ,
Need Who came with him from Pa.
SEND any info you can and Thank you for sharing. I also have a hard
time
getting it from Paper to the Computer, but, its so much easier to
find!
I haven't research FLUCKY family much. Have you ever found the FLAKE
family under that spelling?
We plant a veg garden, but, try to make smaller every year. We just
got
ours in last week, because of cold nites and lots of wind. Now we
have
had a nice rain and sun and getting a good start.
Best Wishes. marie, iowa
