Subject:  Re: [PA-Civil-War] Source lookups (repost)

Melissa,
Could you please do a lookup for me for the name SELLERS    possibly
William
but will take what I can get.
I am looking for James Butler Sellers'  father who I think was  killed in
the
Civil War.  James' death certificate lists his father as William.  That is
all I know.
Thanks in advance

I  am having problems tracing my great grandfather James Butler Sellers I
keep coming up against a brick wall.  His death certificate said he was
born
in Pa. (No city or township mentioned.) His obituary said he was born July
19, 1942, He died April 13, 1913. He had a farm at Jumonville, Fayette
County, Pa. That is where he was living at the time of his death.  It also
stated that he was an invalid.  I find no record that he owned the land or
any land in Fayette County.  On his death certificate his father's name is
listed as William and That he was also born in Pa.  No mother's name was
mentioned.
I cannot find him on the census in Fayette County before 1870.  I am up
against a brick wall.  He had to come from somewhere.  I am not sure now
that
the person who filled out the death certificate was accurate in saying the
father's name or where father and son where born.

This is definitely my lucky day.
Thank you so very much.
By coincidence I was looking at the Allegheny County link that someone so
kindly put on line and I came across William H. Sellers, Private, G Company
of the Militia of 1862, and I was going to look into it further.  You have
just substantiated my theory.
I thank you again and again.
My sister Fay, thanks you also.  She too has been searching for the elusive
family.
