MELINDA SELLERS STONE

I'm looking for parents or siblings of my GrGrGrandmother.  Melinda married
Richard MOODY in Pope Co., IL in 1827.  She married again James Stone in
Bond Co., IL in 1837.

In the 1850 IL Fed Cen for Bond Co.  I find a Leonard and also a Benjamin
SELLERS about her age and both from KY.

I have ordered marriage certificates, but they are a long time coming I
hear.  If anyone could be of help in the meantime, I could share her
children with James.

Thank you for any help,     Bev

Sherry,  Thank  you for the information on Zadock Eakle.  His widow
Missouri
is my greatgrandmother.  I had no idea that they had a child, Rosa May
Eakle
nor do I have any idea what becameof her.  I thought my grandmother was her
only real child.  The more I find out, the less I know!  Missouri's mother
is Melinda Sellers.  Small world.   Thanks again, Bev

Sherry,

I really appreciate your input.  I had a computer go bad and just hooked up
the new one to the internet last night.  I don't have the information I
Zipped fed into this one until Monday morning.  All my tree and files and
favorite sites will be good then.

I did not know that Zadok had died and could find nothing on him.  Other
related Eakles know nothing of him except the Census in 1870 with his
widowed mother.  He married that same year.  Missouri marries again in
1877, John H. Keele who had four children, but her daughter is not with
them on the 1880 Census.  It's all such a mystery...What happened to John's
first wife, Sarah Boaz?  What happened to John?  Even his children
disappear...

I know nothing about finding estate records...that is where to look.  I
have only been at this since last March, dealing with Census rentals and
gracious County workers and Rootsweb people like yourself, who have been
most helpful.  I sent for IRAD records, but most have not been very
helpful.  I wonder if there might be more if you ordered them from the
County.  Most do not have parents or birth information.

Have a great Christmas and I surely will remind you.  Thanks again...Bev

BEVERLY - ages seldom match exactly on the census - most couldn't
add-subtract too good!
1830 POPE CO, IL
ANN SELLERS, PAGE 24
BENJAMIN MCCOOK, PAGE 24
JOHN MCCOOL, PAGE 24
JOHN MCCOOL, PAGE 24 (a McCool married Sellers girl)

1830 BOND CO, IL
JOHN STONE, PAGE 218
RICHARD MOODY, PAGE 226

This gives you the page number if you or someone else looks up census
readings.
Also on the Bond Co, Il page, Benjamin and Leonard SELLERS are both
listed in the History and we could use that info. Sometimes, if you're
lucking - it will tell you where born or came from.

POPE CO, IL or Perhaps Henderson Co, Ky - we need to check 1812 war
files for WM SELLERS.
WE have to prove birth place - And if Same WM SELLERS - Its a
possibilty, as we have links to both counties - Now, its up to us to
Prove.

SOMETIMES, you need to check the surrounding counties -
SEND any info you find.
THANKS, marie, iowa

             Benjamin E. Sellers IL
I can hardly express my diappointment in receiving his military records
today.  For my money all I got was a Black Hawk War Co. Muster-out Roll
dated Aug 10th, 1832 and enrollment date of June 19th, 1832.

So much for parentage.  I hope this helps someone else save money!

Thanks,   Bev in WA

BEV - Is it the Money or the Frustration of Not receiving info we waited on
sometimes for 3 Weeks?

Black Hawk War Files - don't know what info they have - Probably Need to
Know Before we order?

You Usually need a PENSION file to receive Family Info = Rev War, Civil
War,
and also files of War of 1812 ,  Indian Wars  have some data for genealogy.
And Some don't have much -

BUT, some have helped Prove Many of our Families which we would Never Have
Done without those files!
THOSE families needed that money to live And they had to PROVE service to
obtain the money.
THEY had to have sworn testimony by many TO weddings, kids births, places
they were connected or first time they knew. Where in War together
WIVES, sent copies of BIBLE pages to support evidence these kids were
theirs - Bad Shape - but some readably

AND sometimes, Not much, But, You Know You Tried/Did the Search!

I   remember We Need WM SELLERS data AND who he is and born? AND he was
possibly 1812 war?
DID he have a Land Grant in IL? (this may be available on the IL US GENWEB
PAGE)

2 kids born in KY = WE must know WHERE -
and Their War files, etc could prove.
OR info on ONE of their KIDS

OTHERWISE, WHERE in KY are we going to Find Them?

ONLY family I saw was ISHAM SELLERS? and their family hasn't traced out=
His Wm SELLERS married ---(same name)
MAY not be - BUT, I think I would work on it and Find out who these
grandparents were, etc

WILLIAM, BENJAMIN, LEONARD SELLERS of BOND/COLE CO, IL
WHERE born , so we know where to Search/Study

ANOTHER Surname Search here - ? could show where grandparent born?
POSSIBILITY-
GO to GenForum or GenConnect and Request Info on a certain child?

ANYONE - IDEAS - INFO
