FROM GAIL
Boku [lymanrg@favorites.com]
In the past there has been a lot of discussion about Allen, Moses, & Margaret being siblings who are born in North Carolina, spend some time in Georgia, and then move to Alabama.  As I have been working in Georgia, I think Moses may have a connection to William, born 1803, who raises his family in Irwin County, Georgia.

In Irwin County, GA, in 1840, District 518, p. 9, a William Pridgen and a Moses Pridgen are listed next to each other.

1840 Irwin, GA
William Pridgion household
1 male 30-40 [William 38]
1 female 30-40 [Margaret 32]

1 male 5-10 [George]

Marie,
I'll have to do some research before I can possibly help with the
information you need.  I would like to mention, though, that the first
wife of Allen Pridgen (brother of Margaret who married George Johnson
and brother of Moses who settled in Dale Co., AL) was named Sarah Goff.
I noticed in the Sampson County court records that a Thomas Goff lived
in the same area with Johnsons & Pridgens, so I think it's possible that
he was the father or other relative of Sarah.
I accidentally found the following site today & wonder if you've seen
it:  http://www.netins.net/showcase/sellerfamily/ncsel1810.htm
   Until later,

Our  NC info doesn't seem to prove enough connections to our GA

I will make your notation re Allen Pridgen on our Dale Co, Al page -
ALL these Links are so Important

Dear Pridgen family members,
I am a decedent of Moses Pridgen.  Allen Wright Pridgen's brother. First
generation.  All alone on the Pridgen Web site with their sister, Margaret
Tempy Pridgen.  I have been talking to a woman in Dale County, Al that
would
like information on Mariah Vann, Moses Pridgen's wife.  I would like the
info
too.  The Vann Family that is in Dale County are from NC according to the
1850 Census.  The Woman from Dale County is also a Vann.  She thinks that
these Vanns are brother and sister of Mariah.  Since all three of the
Pridgens on Allen Wright Pridgens side moved to Al this might be a connect
to
finding some more information about them.
I would like to know the source of the information that was posted about
this
group.
Allen Wright, Moses, and Margaret Tempy Pridgen.  It is listed under Jospeh
S. Pridgen. # 2 - Family records.  Any information on the Vanns or what
area
they came from in NC.  Moses moved to GA for a period of time and then
moved
to Dale County, AL.  Allen and Margaret Tempy moved to Coffee County, AL.
Also might be a connect to the Pridgen families in GA. I cannot find MOses
in
the GA census as yet.

Thanks for anything anyone can share about this group.

Let me know if Jim and I owe any money for the reunion.

My pictures turned out pretty good.  Especially the group picture.  If you
want a copy let me know.  I know there were a lot taken.

Thanks again for a GREAT time.

Margaret Long Johnson

MARGARET - Our older VANN/SELLERS/PRIDGEN connection  is in the area of
DUPLIN,NEW HANOVER, SAMPSON CO, NC.=

REV WAR ISHAM SELLERS, born DUPLIN CO, NC  son of JACOB, married UNIS VANN,
(Isham SELLERS  was SIL of his Rev War WM VANN of Duplin Co, NC)
AND Some of these families went to GA ca/before 1790 and on to AL.

AND some of this SELLERS family CONNECTS to the JOHNSON family connected to
PRIDGEN that are in BLADEN CO, NC=

THESE COUNTIES ALL made from each other = ALL land the SAME before THAT
county
made.

I BELIEVE our SELLERS/PRIDGEN/VANN marriages are BEFORE these DATES, Not
AFTER
they moved.
AND so hard to CLOSE the Gap between 1790 and 1820 GA/AL info.
SO we need SHARING =
ANY KIDS documents in or from NC to GA or AL.= please SEND and will post on
COUNTY pages and TRY and find connection.

HOPE You understand.
OUR DALE CO, AL page = NEEDS CENSUS posted , so we KNOW where these  KIDS
born
and MARRIAGES of ANY SELLERS, PRIDGENS, VANNS, JOHNSONS.

http://www.netins.net/showcase/sellerfamily/aldale.htm

THE More Info we can Post to any county that SELLERS and PRIDGENS are in =
esp
early 1800's WILL HELP connect these families.
YES, we will post ANY PRIDGEN info you send us to these COUNTIES connected
to
SELLERS on our SELLERS WEB PAGES.
SHARING these Counties and Info is ONLY way we are going to CONNECT these
families!

I mention JOHNSONS because of an earlier letter of these NC JOHNSONS to
same area
our SELLERS/PRIDGENS are= NO proof

WOULD like a Small chart of her VANN'S= names, dates, places (JUST a list to
follow
these families =places/dates)
WOULD like a Small chart of JOHNSONS = did they come to this area from
SAMPSON,
BLADEN CO, NC?
WE don't appear to have VANN connects after SAMPSON CO, NC - but, maybe
some of
the same family? Would Like to check out -

WHERE ANY of these families are in 1800/1820= Very Important on following
these
exact families.
MARRIAGES, CENSUS= please send info

THANKS, CAROL,  for allowing my 'Extras" they will  hopefully help in the
Long Run!

I would like to get in on this conversation if anyone doesn't mind.  I have
a
idea this Sarah Pridgen is none other than Allen Pridgen of Alabama's  wife
Sarah Goff and Adline was Allen's daughter the James Pridgeon listed in the
house on the 1870 censes was also Allen's son James who was listed with
Allen
and Sarah in the 1860 coffee County Al. census James was 6 years old in 1869
the census record for Taylor co.Ga 1870 says Sarah is the Widow of Allen
Pridgeon [only one problem Allen wasn't dead at that time he died August
1877
coffee county Al. ] I  haven't proved this is Allen wife but records says
this Sarah Golf Pridgeon was the widow of Allen Pridgen  I have marrage
record from Taylor County Ga for Allen Pridgen and Sarah Golf. July 17-1853
also have record of  Allen  being appointed exicuter to Mary Pridgen estate
April 1953.  June 1858 Alexender Jones ask Taylor county to give him costudy
of Allen Pridgen's minor children.

My Allen was listed in 1840 census Dale County Al. only spelling is Pippen
he was not listed in 1850 nowhere in Al,  havenot found them in Ga.  however
found court records and marrage records 1852-53 and 1858 not in 1860 Ga. but
1860 in Al.

I knew nothing of Adline until i found court and census records 1852 1858 .
only found her in 1870.  could there be too Allen Pridgens or is this the
same Allen ??
any help will be most greatful.

If  this Allen is my Allen are the same person , then we should be able to
tell who Allen,  Moses and Margaret  descend from ..

this is only guess work the fun part would be to prove they are one and the
same person.   what do you think  ?

Hi, I'm new to the list and wanted to post my information. I'm conducting research for someone who's related to the Hoods/Sellers in Dale County. That would be John Crockett Hood (born 10/21/1845 in Dale Co., AL-died 12/2/1908 in Holmes Co., FL) - married Mary Elizabeth Sellers (born 10/20/1846 in Dale Co., AL-died 2/27/1933 in Pensacola, FL). One of their children, Madonna Elizabeth Hood, is my friend's great grandmother.

I have the 1870 Census of Dale County: J. C. Hood, 24, farmer, AL; M. E., wife, 23, AL; M. E. daughter, 3, AL; G. A., son, 1, AL. I think the daughter M. E. may be Madonna Elizabeth at age 3.

Also have the 1880 Holmes County, FL Census: John Hood, 35, AL., parents born in NC, farmer; Mary, wife, 34, AL; Madonna, 13, AL; Gustavus, 11, AL; Susan, 9; AL; Mary, 7, AL; Charles, 5, AL; Edwin, 3, AL; Oliver, 1, AL. I think the daughter Madonna here is Madonna Elizabeth Hood at age 13.

Madonna Elizabeth Hood married shortly after this 1880 Census was taken at the age of 13 to John Creech McLennan (born 1/2/1851 in Telfair Co., GA-died 7/22/1889 or 1890 at Wilbarger Co., Vernon, Texas). But, John's family of McLennans (his father is Alexander Chisholm McLennan) are found in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Dale County, Alabama Censuses.

If anyone is familiar with this Hood family, Sellers family, or McLennan family (or anyone else connected with these families such as Creech, etc.), I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you so much for any help -

Melissa
