County, Alabama census. They are a LOT of Wilkerson and Wilkinson
families from Georgia in the county. I did note at least one Wilkerson
from NC. The names were familiar but I could not place them.

I just reviewed the 1850 Chambers County, Alabama census on Samuel M.
Burdette and it looks like the wife's name is Taletha and the daughter
looks like Taletha also. It is definitely not Tabitha. The census
taker crossed the "t" all the way across the "L" the T and the H but it
looks like Taletha to me. Looking at the S and the T's he made, it is
not an S as it looks exactly like a T for the name Thomas. I think I
have seen the name Talitha used.

(note - when you see what looks like fs (Clarifsa, Jefse, etc.) this was the
standard way that two s's were written. I've seen this consistently in other
censuses and old court documents )

Above Samuel M. Burdett, family 872 is James Embry, also listed as shoemaker,
born SC. Could be James Embry and Samuel M. Burdett were in the shoe making
business together.

Below, Family 874 is Casper M. Amos, a farmer, also born S. Carolina.
